OOC: Robin...
BIC: *Ashnel wanders out onto the balconey of Starsett Hollow, away from the noise of the party inside. Since Arven had been back in Terralux, everything seemed louder, more cheerful. Not, of course, that the dark squirrel was objecting. It was just... he hasn't been questing in what seems a very long time. Ah, I should go and visit the Pine Woods soon. Catch up on everything - news, gossip... about me. And, of course, hear from everybeast I meet that I should be there more often. Curse the Pine Woods! His mind changes mood very suddenly, and Ashnel lashes out at the balconey rail. It stings his paw, and the squirrel Captain curses again, before looking out into the evening. Two creatures, squirrels, are walking together below in the clearing and Ashnel would've gone back into the party, so as not to intrude upon the pair, except... one of them is familiar. Tall, slim, dark-furred, dressed in a pale blue dress. Mela'! And who in heaven, earth and all of Mossflower is she with?!*

OOC: Yes I'm here and I know what you mean. *Grins*
BIC: *Robin is inside the treehouse, she wonders why Ashnel has just left but decides not to go out there and see, she thought she heard a crash. She also wishes she knew where Elm was, she hasn't seen him in while, he keeps making excuses so as not to be where she is. Maybe he's planning something secret, it would be just like him to do something like that without telling her. The squirrelmaid thinks to herself but still keeps the grins on her face.*
*Elm is wearing smarter clothes than usual, but still the same colours. Faded blue tunic and his brown trousers. However he's also wearing a brown waistcoat which he thinks makes him look very stylish. The ex-pirate is walking through the clearing and staring up at the sky and smiling. He turns his attention back to the other squirrel with him.* That dress makes you look....beautiful tonight Mela. *He smiles softly and turns to the other.*

*Mela' smiles, but tries not to seem absolutely charmed and flattered.* Ssh... someone might see us from Starsett Hollow. *She knows this is almost doubtlessly untrue. Nobeast in Starsett House showed any signs of leaving when Mela' slipped out but half an hour ago.* We should go to Citadel Clearing... it's beautiful in the sunset. *The dark squirrelmaid tells Elm gently, unaware that Ashnel is watching her. From afar, her brother cannot hear Mela's words; but the way Elm is looking at the other is enough to make the squirrel Captain suspicious.*

*Elm smiles at her.* No one will hear us, or see us right now I feel invisble but in a good way. However I bet you're smart enough to have figured that out already, I mean that we can't be heard or seen come to that. Yes Citadel Clearing, it's nearly half as beautiful as you look in the sunset. After that we better head back someon might begin to wonder where we've both got to. *He holds out his paw as if for her to take it and walks on very slowly so she can catch up to him. He feels so natural right now, just free and easy.*

*Ashnel follows his sister and Elm to Citadel Clearing. By now, the squirrel Captain has realised that it is indeed Elm who accompanies Mela'. That should annoy me far more than it does, he tells himself. Then, Ashnel realises what may happen if Robin ever finds out, and feels very torn. Do I side with Mela' or Robin...? And then the dark squirrel feels angry. Why should it have to be me who makes the decision?! Who does Elm think he is?! Mela's above him. Way above him; the traitor. But instead of shouting or calling for Robin, Ashnel keeps following the couple down the sunlit path.*

*Elm looks on over to Mela and feels that he should say something but insead he decides to just keep quiet and watch the sunset. He silently thanks Thrukka for arranging these meetings between himself and Mela even though seh seemed very awkard and resistant about them. Even now he was unable to stop her glaring at him whenever he and Robin were near each other. The pirate stares out at the sunset and he cannot think of another one that is more beautiful. He finally turns towards Mela.* Should we head back now, they might have noticed that we've gone what do you think? *He twitches.* Did you hear something? *He makes to catch her hand and looks around.*

*Mela' shakes her head.* I don't think anybeast save Robin'll have missed us. *She laughs.* They don't need us. We don't need them. *Mela' clearly has heard nothing.* *And at that moment, Ashnel could've killed her. Traitors! The pair of you!* *Meanwhile, Mela' half daydreams, half sleeps, leaning against Elm's shoulder.*

You are right of course, you nearly always are. I'm so glad you don't hold the whole Robin thing against me, when I was with her I just felt so nervous. With you it is so much more natural and free. *He sighs and leans his head on hers and stares at the sunset. The squirrel half turns around again.* Are you sure you didn't hear anything? *He frowns slightly and waits trying to listen.*

*Mela waves a paw airily at him.* You're so suspicious of everything! Not as badly as Robin - my brother, Robin, not your Robin - and Ashnel were, but still... *She smiles yet again.* But we could head back if you like. *Mela' smiles another sly grin.* If you're fed-up of me.

*Elm peers down at her. His frown vanishes in an instant and the smile returns, simpering sweetness oozing from every pore.* I'm not suspicious. *He mutters defensively but he knows that he sounds just like a dibbun trying to say they are not naughty after they had just stolen a whole trifle.* Anyway I could never be fed-up of you, you are never boring. Let's stay then just a bit longer though. *He turns back to the sunset and sighs.*

*Ashnel half wishes Elm would go. Why? he asks himself. Do you want to confront Mela', or does the mere sight of him still offend you, o' equally suspicious one? The Captain watches as Mela' smiles, as though realising her word appears to be law in Elm's mind. She settles again next to him, and gazes around at the statues. Mars, the fox of War; Venus, vixen of Love; Saturn, the badger lady with rings on her paws... Then, as Mela's eyes stray to the other statues - the ones of the heroes - she sees Ranguvar, the dark squirrel warrior. And, oh, in the sunset he looks just like Ashnel. The statue holds aloft a great sword, and holds a heroic pose, but carved eyes gaze at Mela' accusingly, almost mournfully...* We should go. *Mela' tells Elm, louder than she intends.*

*Elm starts at the suddeness of her words but smiles almost gratefully at them. He feels almost as if they have stayed too long. Anyway that statue of Ranguvar looks almost exactly like someone he knows but can't quite place, but he doesn't like the way it seems to be staring at him. The ex-pirate shivers and shakes himself then looks over to Mela again.* You're right lets go. *His voice contains some concern but you might call it shakey if you listened closely. He didn't wait for her to reply but spun around very fast just to get away from those eyes. The squirrel closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Look at you always the scared one. You're too scared to confront Robin or the others, you're terrifed that Mela might be just acting even though you feel she isn't. Now you're also scared of Thrukka and how she knows everything but just galres at you, and now you're scared of a statue! His mind taunts him but the squirrel snaps open his eyes suddenly to clear away these thoughts.*

Elm? *Melamia asks uncertainly. Ashnel hates the concern in his sister's voice, and hurries away. Mela' pauses, then sees the red squirrel open his eyes. Good...* I'll see you later. *She tells Elm.* I don't think it'd be wise to be seen re-entering the party together. *The dark squirrelmaid moves forward to take the ex-pirate's paw for a moment, then leaves with a last, over-dramatic, look back at him.* *Ashnel storms back into the party, his furious eyes searching around for Robin. I'll tell her. I'll tell her about them both.*

*Elm stares After Mela for a moment that is slightly too long and then starts off at a quick walk. What am I going to do? What in the world am I going to do?! Except he already knew what he was going to do. He'd just carry on doing what he was already. Like he always did, never the smart thing or the right thing. It was just his way. The squirrel suddenly realised he'd been walking in circles. He started off again muttering to himself darkly.*
*Robin laughing made her way to the edges of the crowd, she was nearly suffocating, she'd been laughing that much. Anyway everyone seemed happy when they looked at her, except Thrukka for some reason the shrew had been giving her looks all evening filled with well what could only be described as pity. Almost guilt. She had no idea why, the she caught sight of a dark squirrel who just entered.* Ash! *Robin dashes over to him still gasping slightly.* Ash! Where have you been? I was wondering where you got to. Why on earth do look so bothered....and furious......what's up? *She frowns hoping nothing has happened to him.*

*As Ashnel begins to try and explain, he doesn't notice Mela' slip in through the front door and into the safety of the crowd.* I - I saw... *The squirrel falters. Say it, he orders himself. Say it.* I saw that you were having a good time at the party. *Ashnel finishes lamely.* And so am I.
