*Terragon picks up a light travelling bag from the cold ground and with one paw swings it over her shoulder as she sees Lonas approach.* Morning, *She calls quietly as a bow and a quiver of arrows follow the bag, though with more carefullness.* I take it you avoided the Whispering Willow last night then, Lonas? *Terragon asks with a smile.* You, Oakrose and Darron are all a little early. But I don't think anybeast else is coming and I've been up since first hour. Did you hear the magpies?

*Good, he didn't see. Or, he's not showing it. Darron is staring to get on my nerves with this whole love thing. That was, and is, and thing of the past. Oakrose smiles at the two squirrels approaching.* Hello, Lonas! Hey, Terri. How far will we need to go? *Darron notices Lonas' inspection of him. He waves at the golden squirrel and bows slightly to Terragon.* You're Lonas, correct? I'm only comin' along to make sure none of them hellions get their dirty claws on ya'll, so don't get yer feathers ruffled. Ah, Miz Terragon, we can get this started! No, I never heard any magpies. *Oakrose shoots a smile at Lonas, then mouths a message to him behind Darron's back.* He is telling the truth, for once. Sorry you'll have to put up with him.

"Magpies?" Lonas frowns and starts to shake his head, then remembers. "Oh, aye. Reg' said somethin' about it earlier, before he started out on 'is run. Woulda' been at the Tavern last night, but we got a note from home an' Reg made me stay b'hind so's he could dictate a letter back." The golden squirrel rolls his eyes a bit. "Apparently 'tisn't seemly fer a duke t' be writin' 'is own letters. Also, nobeast c'n read his handwritin', and Rippla won't write in English or Latin characters." The weasel, although he could speak English, Germanic, and even a bit of Latin, was too proud to write the languages. Lonas had never minded this, as he could read runes fairly well..and anyway, Rippla preferred to speak instead of writing.
He smiles politely at Darron, but doesn't miss Oakrose and thus seems a bit friendlier than he intended. Although he can't mouth anything back, he grins in amusement anyway. Ah, she's back. Good, I haven't talked t' Oakrose since..dunno. The squirrel's memory only went back so far. Mighta' been th' New Year party..aye. Think that was it. He shoots the squirrelmaid his best 'talk to you later' look and wishes good morning on all and sundry.

*Oakrose nods back. Shuffling her paws anxiously, she readies her pack.* So, when are we leaving? Is everything ready now? *Darron nods.* You're from th' Arkains, right?

"Aye." Lonas regards Darron with an almost calculating look, complete with slightly narrowed eyes. "Corin's m' brother." Is? Was? The golden squirrel decided not to bother with minor technicalities like being disowned. The fact that he wasn't technically an Eale didn't seem to matter much when the family needed him for something. Hopefully it wouldn't turn out that Darron had some kind of argument with the illustrious Eale family, squirrel lords of the Arkains. That could be a problem, and also he might end up fighting a duel. Although it was more likely that Regen would be fighting than him. Or maybe the other squirrel was just making small talk, and if he shot a covert but hopeful look at Terragon...like so...they might get to leave and he wouldn't have to act friendly to Darron. It wasn't that he didn't like the guy, but evidently the younger squirrel was looking for a rival. Lonas wasn't interested. C'mon Terri, let's move out...

*Darron starts to further comment, trying not to make small talk, but find out about his competition.* So, you should be rulin' there eventually? But, I guess somebeasts just aren't cut out for that kinda life... they're afra--- *Oakrose noticed Lonas' eyes and almost knows what's going through his mind. Great. Darron's gonna go too far and I'm gonna have to choose: do I break up a fight or let them at one another? Or maybe it'll just start something between home and the Arkains. That'd be worse. No! Lonas is NOT a coward, and you'll never call him one, you walkaway Joe! She reached over, kicked Darron in the leg, covered his mouth, and wrapped her other arm around his chest.* Sorry, sometimes he just goes too far and doesn't know when to stop! *She put special emphasis on the word stop, hoping Darron would get the message.*

"I am one o' the youngest sons. Th' chances of me rulin' th' Arkains are extremely low." Lonas glanced at Oakrose, face carefully blank, and fixes Darron with an arrogant frown..looking, in fact, as close to the weasel Rippla as anybeast can ever get. Perhaps a show of uninterest'll throw him off, before he annoys Regen or someone and gets a fight on his paws. Perhaps warn him about that..Regen would fight for his own honor, but if he heard that the younger squirrel had insulted the family, his brother would be more likely to send Rippla out to antagonize the wrongdoer. That might mean anything from a warning scraped on the wall to an 'accidental' fire to a knife in the back, depending on whether the weasel liked the victim or not. "I'd keep my mouth shut in future, were I you." Icy tone in the voice, like Corin giving some feudal underling a warning. "Otherbeasts will act more strongly t' insults 'n I do, sir." 'Cmon Terri, let's go. B'fore we get an internation'l incident on our paws. Which he had no doubt that the Arkains would win. Oakrose and her assorted relatives were nice, for the most part, but unlikely to be able to stand up to the Eale family for pure numbers and grudge factor.

*Oakrose releases Darron at Lonas' words. She sighs, then goes to sit on a stump nearby. He's beginning to act so much like Rippla. But maybe it's just a response to something going on, like I cry and obsess and wear black, he hardens up. Hopefully. The squirrel has decided to give up on restraining Darron, let him deal with it his self. She twists a lock of curly auburn hair as she focuses on the two. Come on Terri, please! Let's go!* Ah. I see. I move around too much to keep roots, or jobs in a place. *Or family and friends, or me! Thought Oakrose scornfully.*

*Terragon, looking from Lonas to Darron and back with a glare as equal in anger as Oakrose's thoughts.* Perhaps we should leave, gentlebeasts, *Terragon tells the two male squirrels, her voice clear but quiet and reasonable, each word's pronounciation exaggerated.* We wouldn't want to arrive late at the trading post after the snow. *Or for either of you to arrive early at your own funerals. It finally seems that Terragon is ready to leave and whatever thoughts may have been urging her to remain at Terralux have passed. For now.*

*Oakrose breathes a sigh of relief. Yes! Finally! That was so tense. She picks up her sack and waits to start walking, more impatient than ever.* *Darron notices the glare, and realizes what a foolish thing it was to do. He nods at Terri, then nods at Lonas, as close a thing to an apology as he'd ever give to the ex-pirate.* Mmm-huh. Yea, let's leave. *His leaving side, the adventurous part of him had been renewed suddenly.*

*Shrugging the bag on her back into a more comfortable position, Terragon follows, a glimmer of a smile flickering through. Oakrose stood up for Lonas... good. Well done. Whether he'd needed the help or not, Terragon nods, ever so slightly. As she begins to walk, a half-forgotten tune drifts to the surface of her mind. She makes a great effort not to allow her paws to fall in time with the tune and decides she'll not move to the front of the group until they reach the crossroads beyond Terralux, leaving Darron and Oakrose to talk things over, or not.*
OOC: Advance quest, or d'you want to RP Lonas' "final thoughts before leaving," Tinsy?

OOC: Just advance it, I guess. I'm not feeling particularly Lonas-y today. I need more coffee before I even feel like Regen.

OOC: I guess it's "my turn". BIC: *Darron was the first out of the gates. It's nice out here. Wide open spaces. I'll need some direction to where we're going, or we'll be headed to wherever I feel like. Which would probably be home, then to the Northern Isles. Right now.* 'Ey, Miz Terragon, which direction are we goin?

Straight down to the crossroads, *Terragon calls back, barely having to think about it.* The woodland gets a bit thinner, then the path splits, Darron.
OOC: I think at some point, I'm going to try and make a yawning smiley for myself and Tinsy. Then Rippla can yawn out of boredom, and we can yawn out of lack of coffee.

OOC: Cool. Then Oakrose can yawn because of Darron's antics are getting old. A smacking one would be cool too. For obvious reasons. BIC: *Oakrose drops back to walk alongside Terri, and, hopefully Lonas. She smiles at the leaderess.* Hey. Mind if I walk with you? *Darron decides to continue on hard for five minutes, then wait for them to catch up.*
