*Cuoha continues swimming towards Silas. It is easier going than before, as the current from the wave is on her side. The squirrelmaid is painfully aware of the unnatural silence surrounding her. Every time she makes a splash, it echoes all around her. She eventually reaches Silas, and notices the splinter in his arm.* Are you okay? *She asks Silas.* It looks painful. *She gestures to the splinter.*

OOC: Alright, bear in mind that in medieval times, the phrase, "okay", was unheard of.

I'll be fine. Been through worse. *He makes light of the splinter, thinking how lucky he was to not have an entire plank running through his midsection from the debris in the water.* You see anybeast around here? *He asks, looking about for survivors himself.*

OOC: Ah. I see what you mean, Terragon.
BIC: *Cuoha looks around her.* I can't see anybeast. I doubt they would have been able to escape. Therre wasn't any warning the wave was coming. Somebeasts might have made it to higher ground, but not many. *Cuoha feels miserable at the knowledge that many innocent beasts may have been killed, and starts to sob quietly.*

*Silas still watches as the water and debris floats off with them, the flooded surface of the lake now calm. He felt a sadness well up inside him, but held it inside.* All this destruction... How? *He wonders as he puts a paw on the sobbing form of Cuoha. He could find no words to actually give to her, so he stayed silent, mourning the lost lives in his own quiet way as they floated with the log ever so slowly in the calm waters.*

*Cuoha feels comforted by Silas' presence, and her sobbing gradually dies down until the only visible evidence of her grief are a few small tear-streaks down her cheek. The log they are clinging to grinds against a mixture of mud and stones, and Cuoha realises that this is the edge of the flooding. She glances around her, and the remains of huts float by.* I think we'd better get out of the lake. *She tells Silas, as she realises they are turning a dark shade of brown from the mud that has become churned in with the lake water.*

Yes. Let's. *Silas says, eyeing their surroundings. They appeared to be on the opposite bank of the settlement, where he originally walked from around the lake to. He searched around for his sword, which he discarded when he went swimming. His footpaw smacked against something hard and edged. Bending down into the murky water, he grabs hold of the hilt of a weapon. He takes it out of the water, seemingly producing it from the mud to reveal a gleaming sword, with an intricate insignia imprinted into the blade next to the crosstree. He picks up the scabbard as well, due to the fact that it landed sheath first into the mud.*

I..i..s that yours? *Cuoha asks hesitatingly. The squirrelmaid thinks the weapon is rather grand, and isn't quite sure that she saw Silas with it earlier.*

Yeah. I'm lucky I found it. *Silas straps the scabbard to his belt, then thrusts the sword into it. He felt safer somehow, with the addition of a simple item to his effects.* Well, I guess we should head back to the village. *He suggests, peering back across the debris-strewn lake at the settlement.*

I think we should. *Cuoha agrees, already clambering out of the water. She shakes the water from her fur, and most of it sprays Silas.* Oops! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that! *The squirrelmaid feels guilty that she has showered Silas with lake water.*

It's okay. *Silas takes a positive note, despite the recent events* Can't get much more soaked. *He remarks in good humor. He makes his way onto the new 'shore', stepping over a wooden beam that used to be part of a floating house. He turns back to Cuoha.* I know this might seem like the wrong time, but I didn't quite catch your name back there.

It's Cuoha. I'm quite new to Terralux, and I don't know that many beasts. I was going to ask you to show me around, but... well... there's not much to be shown around any more. *Cuoha eyes the debris that used to be part of a Terraluxian hut.*

*Silas turns and says with a sigh* Well, even if you asked me to show ye around I wouldn't be much use... I'm a newcomer here myself. Name's Silas Hawkeye. *He steps over a destroyed awning, covering a lump of something he sees too often. A corpse. He gingerly steps over the lump as well, feeling sympathy for whoever the creature was. He wonders, this time aloud.* How could this have happened? It's just.... *He let his words trail off, unspoken.*

I know... *says Cuoha sadly.* None of these beasts in Terralux did anything wrong, yet... *like Silas, her grief prevents her finishing her sentence.*

Yet they die regardless. *Silas clenches his fists in frustration.* Nothing we can do about it now. *he says, almost to himself. In his quick survey of the debris field, no one else seemed to be alive, eveything in complete ruin. He takes a step toward the main settlement, musing quietly to himself what would've happened if they knew about the catastrophe earlier.*
