This is what happened to me this year? I dunno, maybe it will explain..things..a little.
January: Spring semester of college. Other stuff. Can't remember. February: College continues. Certain badgers grow bored with it. All of a sudden, they receive a Coast Guard ad in the mail and say "Hmmmm..." March: More college. Badger is ready to shoot everyone she lives with. Decides that boot camp is a good idea. Calls up the local Coast Guard recruiter. April: Enlists. Finishes semester. Thank God for that. All of a sudden is leaving home and becomes busy. Fancy that. May: Cleans room. Plays horse trainer at a local barn. Bounces off the walls waiting to leave for boot camp. Gives laptop to father for genetic experiments. June, July, August: BOOT CAMP September: Reports to USCGC MELLON (WHEC 717) in Seattle, Washington. Immediately goes to drydock with ship. October: Goes to Vancouver. All month. Buys computer from Best Buy. November: Returns from aforementioned. Buys internet card. It only works on the messdeck. December: Christmas. Painting and sanding. All of a sudden is like "Hmm...I wonder if Terralux is still up.."
Yeah. There it is. In the space of a year, I've gone from bored college student to proud (but still somewhat bored) US Coast Guard seaman. Yep. However, I have returned..mostly because Regen keeps turning up anytime I draw things. Therefore..

Wow, all sounds great. So are you continuing Coast Guarding in 2010 or was that just a one-off/summer thing? Much jealousy about Vancouver, by the way, good time? Glad to see you back here though, the place was getting too quiet without everyone's favourite squirrel brothers.

Eh..no. The Coast Guard is a full-time military obligation. Four years. But it pays good, and I get to go places. Like Vancouver, which was AWESOME because everyone but me got drunk. I got to make fun of the whole ship. The city has a huge record store..three floors of CDs, movies, video games, books, etc etc. My offical favorite place ever. Yeah, I missed my Spanish boys.

Ah, apologies, I didn't read your previous message closely enough and took 'coast guard' to mean 'life guard' and then got confused about the drydocked ship. Yup, any job that lets 'one' travel is a good job from my point of view. The Vancouver story sounds pretty familiar and speaking of which, happy New Year for tomorrow. ;D Any good finds at the record store too? Oh, and not forgetting Tomlin and Rippla, everyone's favourite messenger and everyone's favourite (or least favourite) weasel. Plotwise, not a great deal's happened due to inactivity. Geordie was back a while ago but has taken a break from RPing and I'm just trying to get the Guild of Archivists active. Good Christmas? Happy holidays and the like to Baraka too.

Happy New Year to you..not sure about Baraka, who continues to live on the other side of the country from me. Not that he wants to, but.. Couple. Turisas, Ensiferum, etc. I spent like..three hours..wandering around in there with a couple people from the ship. Good times. Well, I did start a thread, so...whatever happens. I'm cool.
