*All that is visible is the silhouette as he stealthily climbs the ladder; he steps slowly out on to the porch, his tan fur ruffling as the cool winter night's breeze blows against him. The mysterious ferret's paws shake nervously, hit by a wave of memories. He breathes slowly, creaking the door slowly open with one paw, while removing his hood with the other. Poking his head in, the former Head Woodland Captain calls out softly.* Terragon? *He steps into the light, his head fully visible now, and the identity of the strange ferret is revealed. Stoakly.*

*She wasn't asleep but her mind's eye was wandering now, far away from her room, from Terralux. Months have past, the seasons changing once more to winter and still, Terragon's thoughts are turned to Ashnel and his whereabouts. Nearly a full year since he left and her mind remains plagued with questions. But all of a sudden, above the sigh of the wind outside the thin walls and window panes, a voice - a familiar voice - can be heard, calling. More suddenly, Terragon sits bolt upright and looks around.* *She does not have to ask herself if she is dreaming; she already knows she is wide awake. Dressing in the dark, not even the absence of light can hide the squirrel's astonishment. She near stumbles to the door, flinging it open and crossing the hall in a daze, stopping only to light a candle from the now low flames of the fire in the hearth.* *Reaching the front door of Starsett Hollow, the mere seconds seem to have been hours and Terragon curses herself as she fumbles one-pawed to unbolt it. As she flings it open, the winter wind not hesitating to assist, no words escape her. She stands in the doorway, the iciness of the air hitting her and pulling at her cloak, hastily pulled around her shoulders, not even fastened yet. Not even waiting for the other to speak, Terragon simply stands and stares. And finally, a tear wells up in the squirrel's eyes and she steps aside to allow the ferret inside and stop him seeing by the light of the candle as the tear rolls quickly down her cheek and disappears into her russet fur.*

*It had been seasons beyond seasons since he saw the squirrel; the ferret steps into the hollow and nervously walks to her desk, not even asking if he can take a seat. Stoakly sits down in the oak chair and removes his cloak, revealing a torn brown tunic, stained with blood from long ago. He sighs aloud, cocks his head up to Terragon's, and, almost trembling with relief, begins to speak.* Been a while, eh? *The ferret chuckles, as he realizes this must come as a complete shock to the squirrel, who believes him dead.* I assure you, Terri, I'm not a ghost or an apparition; Hallow's Eve passed a while ago, if I still have a sense of time. When I was stabbed, it narrowly missed my heart; when I cried for help, an old bankvole came, he dragged me to his humble home and bandaged me. As I was on the verge of death, he left me there, laying on a small bed, not fit for a ferret. He returned a few minutes later with some herb, and it healed me eventually. I was injured for many months, and when the vole and his wife finally nursed me back to health, I thought the best thing I could so was help them. I ... I didn't intend to come back, Terragon. *His speech slows, and he begins to shiver.* When I left the vole and his wife, I marched to Salamandastron to see my old friend, Captain Cragg McFay. He set me straight, and after two seasons, he convinced me to return. He's only a few days behind me; he respectfully resigned the Long Patrol and told me he'd head up here to Terralux to assist a few days afterward. He's a brilliant fighter, far better than me, and I think with his guidance we could keep this place safe. *Stoakly knew before he spoke, that he shouldn't say what he is about to say, but he does anyway.* He reminds me of Ash'...

*Terragon doesn't sit down. Setting the candle down, she keeps one paw on the desk and gazes back at Stoakly for a long time, then looks away, not sure what to say.* Yes, a while... *She murmurs.* How can you still be alive?! *Terragon asks suddenly, eyes snapping back to look at the ferret.* I know you explained! *She adds, before he can speak.* But - *And she stops, realising she's raised her voice. The squirrel smiles.* Sorry, *She says ruefully.* I'm glad you're back, y'know? *Terragon gives a quiet bark of laughter.* And you do choose your moments badly; a freezing, dark night in the middle of winter... seasons, Stoakly! You must be frozen! And exhausted! Is there anything I can do?

*It seems very little can surprise the leaderess anymore, for as Tass enters, Terragon barely blinks. Calmly she reaches out to stop the other.* Calm... *She says quietly but with a firmness that suggests that her own tranquility is a mask and her emotions are ready to boil over.* There's nothing to worry about. Stoakly, as you can see, is not dead. *She gives the ferret a quick smile.* And by all means, drop by to visit him tomorrow after he's rested. But I think he's had a long journey and I must insist that you leave no - *She pauses.* Soon. *Terragon looks to the still-open door of the house.* Please.

*Stoakly's eyes immediately turn back to Terragon, deciding to take her up on her hospitality; normally, he would not, but he decides that this is a special circumstance. The ferret sighs, and nods his head.* There is something. Lyman is gone, and he must believe I'm dead. I can't return to my old house; it's most likely abandoned, assuming someone else didn't occupy it. I need a new home, so if there's any open hollows or the like, I'll take it. I promise to pay it out once I've earned some more Shards. It's unlikely someone didn't loot my home... *He looks up to her, and then his eyes scour the room for any kind of edible substance.* Any vittles around?

*Terragon nods wordlessly, and wanders steadily into the kitchen-like area of the big room. She roots through several wooden cupboards, placing items on a tray, before replying.* I suspect there'll be empty houseboats on the lake and I know for sure now Blackstar's armies aren't threatening to tear Terralux there's half a dozen unoccupied cottages. Though it'd be no trouble for you to stay here, of course. *The squirrel pauses and closes a cupboard door.* It's strange... Starsett Hollow being empty. Not... unpleasant exactly, just strange. *Terragon carries the tray across to Stoakly and sets it down on the desk next to the candle.* Help yourself. If you're still hungry, there's plenty more. Had to stock up when it looked like there could be a seige. *She gives a small laugh and sighs quietly.* So, if it's not too rude to ask you so many questions a moment after you've walked in the door, why didn't you contact us - contact me - to say you were alright? To say you were alive, even? I know you didn't mean to return, but... *Terragon looks away, exasperated, and glares at the floorboards.*

I might just take you up on that. *Stoakly chuckles; after all, Starsett Hollow always did seem like the place to be filled all the time.* Is Ash' still gone? What happened? *The ferret begins to think the worst, but finally he just shakes his head.* Well, to be honest, I didn't intend to return. I marched to Salamandastron to see an old friend, Cragg. I planned to stay there; I know I should've wrote, but what was I going to say? "Dear Terragon, by the way, I'm alive"? I ... I didn't want you to announce it to Terralux, either. I decided to come back discreetly. Anyhow, I'd really like to get to bed. Anything needing doing in the morning? I really could use some Shards...
OOC: When should Stoak' be informed of the promotion?

*Terragon smiles. The other is forgiven, for now.* Hell's Teeth, Stoak', forget about Shards! With Ash' gone and Geordie and Robin Martin-knows-where, that only leaves you and Captain Eale. *She takes the now-empty tray and looks Stoakly in the eye.* You're a Terraluxian Captain, *She tells him, as though it isn't already plain, and with a smile turns on her heel and returns the tray to the kitchen area.* It's probably best if you sleep in Ashnel's old room instead of here so you won't be woken by any early visitors, *Terragon says.* Kael, *She adds, by way of explaination.* An otter. Lives in St.Ninian's. Strange creature, but you'll like him. *Realising she is babbling, the squirrel gives another smile, this one apologetic, and nods towards the door of Ashnel's room.* There should be a blanket in the box at the foot of the bed. *Another smile.* Night. *Terragon makes her way towards her own room, but pauses at the door and glances back at Stoakly.* It's really good to see you again, *She tells him and disappears inside, shutting the door quietly behind her. A moment later, it opens again and Terragon sheepishly steps out into the main room again.* Sorry... could you blow out the candle before you go to bed? It'd put a bit of a damper on your return if the house caught fire. *The door shuts again and Terragon rolls her eyes. Strange, how everything seems to have returned to normal within minutes, asking a long-lost friend if he'd please mind not burning down her house... but stranger things have surely happened.*
OOC: Skip to the next morning, or do you want to reply to ^^^?

OOC: Eh, skip to next morning.
BIC: *Stoakly awakes to find himself in the bed of an old, lost friend; he sighs, and begins pondering how he'll be able to start everyday with a reminder of Ashnel's absence. Yet, somehow, the ferret feels a little at peace; Terralux is what it used to be, or as far as he could tell. Perhaps new creatures would come, sure, and possibly old friends will return, but Terralux still remains a light in the shadow, a breeze in the heat. He unwraps the blanket from around him and rolls out of the bed, using the banister to push himself up. The ferret grabs his cloak and throws it on; it's still late winter, and the cold is relentless until the first dawn of spring. A creaking sound is audible as he opens the door to the rest of Starsett Hollow, his paws now covered in black boots. Thinking twice of his apparel, he returns to his room, opens his knapsack, and gets dressed with something truly worthy of his return. Revealing inner faults to himself, Stoakly soon tells himself that he is, in fact, very vain. Stoakly returns to the room in his old Woodland Captain uniform, that he always carries with him; a knee-length emerald green coat with white lapels, white cuffs, gleaming gold buttons, and buttonholes edged with gold. There truly is no occasion warranting the formality, but after spending weeks beyond weeks in a green tunic and a black coat, he is happy for the change. Suddenly, as he sits at the desk in Starsett Hollow, he realizes that he is now a Terraluxian Captain, and needs to get to work. Simply, he decided to wait until Terragon comes out; she might have something for him.*

*Terragon, tired-eyed but smiling, re-enters the treehouse accompanied by Kael to find Stoakly waiting at the desk.* Well I didn't expect him to be awake yet, *She confesses.* But Kael, this is Mister Stoakly Centurio. *The otter crosses the room and offers Stoakly his paw to shake.* You won't be surprised to hear I've heard all about you. Terragon was babbling almost the moment Lauds had finished and we'd left the Chapel. *Terragon grins.* That wasn't all I said, *She insists.* No, *Kael agrees.* She's asked if I'll accompany you to the forge and armoury later... something about a Terraluxian Captain's uniform? *He smiles for the first time, showing white, wolf-like teeth in a friendly grin.*

*As the boredom and silence begins to increase, Stoakly grabs some of the envelopes on Terragon's desk, hoping to find something regarding Ashnel; Terragon has yet to tell him what has happened to the squirrel. The ferret's mind begins to wander when the door opens wide; he turns, looking up at Terragon and the strange otter. Remembering his manners, he stands, bows, and shakes the paw of Kael.* Greetings, Kael, as you know, I'm Captain Centurio. Pleased to meet you. Oh, really? All about me, huh? Well, I hope some details were left out. Some things happened here that I'm not too proud of. *As the memory of Adoni begins to envelope his mind, the ferret immediately snaps out of it. He turns back to them and hears the offer. Looking at Kael, he nods.* Shall we? *Stoakly opens the door and holds it for the otter.* I most certainly would like to see this uniform.

*Kael looks taken aback for a moment, but smiles and nods.* Sure. Right this way. The forge is a lot less busy now the trouble with Tervin Blackstar's over... *And so on. He steps aside of the door to allow Captain Centurio through first and raises a paw in farewell to Terragon.* We'll be back for breakfast in no more than an hour. Take care. *Terragon rolls her eyes and laughs quietly as the door shuts behind Kael. 'Take care'?! Like Kael said, he and Stoakly will be back within the hour. She returns to the desk a moment and catches sight of the papers, a few of the envelopes out of place. Curiousity always would kill the cat. The squirrel is glad of the time she now has to think of how to word the reason for Ashnel's absence. She sits down and waits, wondering.*
OOC: Skip ahead? Sorry for the slight auto-hit in assuming Stoakly had already followed Kael.
