*Terragon looks ruefully up at the dark rain clouds hanging over Terralux as the first raindrops begin to fall. The ground, parched for so long, greedily soaks up the water, a damp scent rising from the earth.* *The leaderess makes her way quickly to the Village Square, paws slapping against the wet stones. Most creatures seem to have taken refuge indoors from the rain, which grows steadily heavier by the moment. In seconds, a dozen droplets of water had become a dozen dozen and as Terragon nears the Whispering Willow, that number is doubled and trebled until the squirrel can barely see for the raindrops soaking her fur and gathering on her eyelashes.* *She'd been making her way towards the Forge, but at a flash of lightning and a roll of thunder overhead, waits beneath Whispering Willow's porch, looking up at the raging heavens.*

The rain falling out of the sky doesn't appear to bother Regen. The golden squirrel stands under the porch, ignoring the water dripping from the leaves above him, his brown eyes lifted to the lightning. He appears to be off in some other world. He is thinking of Spain, in fact, where it will now be warm and the grapes will be ripening. Tournaments are always held during this month..Regen hasn't fought in one of those in years. Too busy, really, for stupid tests of manhood. He's had enough of those running this village. He glances sideways at Terragon as she steps onto the porch, but says nothing. The golden squirrel has grown somewhat reclusive lately, now that there has been an outbreak of peace..at least for Terralux, if nobody else. Mostly he's thinking of the Eales, who will have all gotten into the political battles raging on the mainland. He knows Corin will be as neutral as purgatory, along with the rest of Spain..well, at least until there is a chance for profit, in which case his silver-starved homeland will jump into the fray with swords drawn..plenty of dead tiercos. Not usually a big deal; there were always too many soldiers in Spain for the health of the general public. The country had to get into a war every five years or so to thin out their ranks. A faint smirk flickers across Regen's face before fading again. He mumbles something in Spanish as the rain picks up, again wishing he was back in his own country..sunny, warm, dry..sunny.. Well, since Regen was here..
"Tell me," he says suddenly. "How many o' these little villages are there? Can't be that many, safety in numbers and Blackstar have made sure o' that.." He is loath to explain the reason for his question, but he is pretty sure he will have to discuss his plans..or, rather, his considering of plans..later on. It probably won't be taken well, but Regen will have to say something.

*Terragon gives the other a long sideways look before replying.* In this part of Mossflower...? *She asks, staring once more out into the rain as she considers.* Well, the clan in Reguba Valley was dispersed a few years ago and the otter settlement down by the shore's gone now, with the weather and bad fishing we've been having the last two summers... *Terragon stops, continuing her outloud thinking in the privacy of her head. Finally, she answers,* I couldn't say for certain, but maybe a score of settlements this size between here and Redwall, though Blackstar - as you said - may have thinned that number a little. *Terragon grimaces and then, curiousity getting the better of her asks,* Why d'you ask, Reg'?

Regen listens quietly, not recognizing any of the places mentioned..he hadn't been one for asking the names of places when he was a soldier. After a moment he begins to go over the territory in his head, considering the hills and valleys he knows are around. It doesn't really get mountainous until past the Badger Mountain or very far down south, but there are some low hills here and there.. ..Why d'you ask, Reg'? "Oh." Regen pauses, wondering if he ought to come out with it now, then figures it can't hurt. He did ask, after all. "Just wonderin' about competition, is all. Thinkin' o' startin' my own place..little fort, maybe. A duke ought to 'ave his own castles, after all." Well, Regen did, but they were mostly in Spain and he couldn't go back there now even if he wanted to. Besides, he was already planning to hand those over to Raymond..Lonas' son, not the man himself..when the young squirrel was old enough to know what he was being given. Just because he happened to be Lonas' son didn't mean Raymond wasn't an Eale same as his father. For what that was worth.. "Now's th' time t' do it, while Blackstar's distracted with wars in England."

*The idea, at first, both excites and intriques the leaderess. But, as she turns Regen's words over in her mind, a slow, slight frown spreads across Terragon's face.* You're leaving Terralux. *It's not a question. A dozen possibilities suggest themselves to her. Regen could build a manor house in the meadows, a house outside the walls... but, no. It's not your place to change his mind, Terragon tells herself in a voice that reminds her of Ashnel.* I suppose Lonas will be going with you? *She doesn't yet know about Raymond.* And Rippla, of course.

Regen glances at Terragon, generally expecting something more..well, more, but it's no big deal since he didn't really want to deal with storms of complaints. He nods instead, turning his gaze back to the storm outside. "Lonas will come..Amber Eale's seen t' that. She wasn't too happy 'bout..well, it doesn't matter what about." He pauses for a second. Oakrose would probably go with Lonas. Well, that was fine. "An' Rippla..every lord needs his master at arms. Obviously we'll be allies. Ye need some anyway, for all th' good it'll do ye while I'm still building." He frowns into the rain, considering what sort of buildings he'll need..probably wood, in this kind of weather and without any stone available. If he builds it on a hill it will be easier to defend. Moats, possibly. "This is your village," he says in a slightly apologetic tone of voice. "I've been runnin' it for ye, but it does belong t' you."

Thank-you, *Terragon murmurs. The rain is growing heavier, though her voice can still be heard above the thrumming of the raindrops. And another thought occurs to her. Forts draw many creatures to them and not so long ago she was aquainted with a certain squirrel who, were he to discover the construction of such a building, would - without a doubt - be intrigued and allow his curiousity to lead him to the fort...* Ashnel, *She says aloud, not meaning to. Terragon bites her lip and looks again at Regen.* What d'you think? Another fort; if he's still in or near Mossflower, he might...?
