Bunch of riddles here.
Silence, I say, but silence I bring,
North I came from, or was it south?
Adders are me but I not adder,
Kiss I do from my poisonous mouth,
Endless terror my voice does ring.
((Snake))
Within me rests ancient words,
Divided into three neat thirds,
Understand and learn from me,
A world beyond you will see.
I am one of many others,
Read aloud by many mothers,
I was once a growing tree,
But now in ink I am a key.
I open a door to another world,
A whole reality to you unfurled.
I tell my tale without a voice,
To read and rejoice is really your choice.
((A Redwall Book))
I am quiet, no noise I make,
Any sound will make me break,
Give me fuel, make no sound,
But never to me you shall be bound.
You cannot touch but you can feel,
My quiet presence not like a meal,
I am the lack of sound perhaps,
Too fragile and easy to collapse.
((Silence))
I begin with a snake, the head of snake,
My second is in ice but not in water,
My third is in a lake but not in cake,
My fourth is not son but seventh daughter,
My fifth in sun but not in our shake,
My sixth is my first but another letter,
My final letter is my fourth,
And is last for many else as well.
((Silence))
Flaming leaves, cloudless skies,
Breeze that whistle through the woods,
The heat is gone, but warmth remains,
And everyone store their winter goods.
Soon shall come the heavy snow,
Gone is blazing bright sunlight,
Leaves are flaming, fiery red,
And coming earlier is dawn of night.
Hear the birdsong, twittering chirps,
But when I wake, in fore-dawn dark,
I tip my ears and try to hear,
But do I hear the singing lark?
Build your food stocks, store away,
Say goodbye to our avian friends,
They are going ever south,
Just as the cold of winter descends.
I come alone as one among four,
Let pass summer, and before it spring,
Who am I, I dare you say,
As I begin my song to sing.
Autumn
When heavy frost does melt away,
I am here and here to stay,
My heavenly smells do trap some in,
We all do, those of my kin.
I am violet and I am white,
Sometimes I shall glow through night,
I am yellow and bright pink-red,
When by water and sunlight fed.
I was born and I will die,
But my blood will soar ever high,
Until they land and begin to live,
And through them I will again relive.
Sometimes venom I shall have,
With other my soil I shall halve,
I have many shapes and forms,
Together lasting many storms.
You know me, but you I not,
You can think; I have no thought,
Answer my question, do not lie,
Who am I?
((Flowers))
I sing a song but have no voice,
To sing my song I have no choice,
Stolen once but given twice,
Made and broken at paws of mice,
Use me once but hear some more,
On me written is ancient lore.
Used as weapon, I can kill,
Pull my rope and hear my trill,
Though now in two I am quite split,
Marking hours lightly lit,
Til Redwall falls we ever ring,
We'll never cease to do our thing.
((The Bell))
Everywhere we see a bloom,
Gone is darkness, gone is gloom,
The day is bright and full of light,
Birds do sing in heighty flight.
Snow is gone, sun is here,
The air is full of happy cheer,
Dibbuns roll in meadows green,
It is spring, as we have seen.
We have a basket, and a cloth,
We have a muffin and some broth,
Friar packed us all a lunch,
Food that packs a mighty munch.
So we sit and sip some tea,
Laughing at a little bee,
In the grass we feast and play,
A fine, good day is today.
What have we this day?
((Picnic))
I see a colour made with two,
Many see it, I and you,
With the eye it is always seen,
But it's rare to see, it's always been.
Half is a colour opposite to night,
Yellow, silver, green or white,
The other is cloth, before a bull,
Purple, red, or grey just dull.
One over other to create anew,
Half do like it, or just a few,
Mix two paints or mix two lights,
But it's nothing to cause any fights.
It's a colour made with one,
The other is of the sun,
It is a colour, made of two,
One by me and one by two.
((Pink))
