With the sincere belief that the sky was the limit, Ada Belmere had set off to see the world with tears in her eyes but her head held high. She had said goodbye to her family, armed with wise advice, good wishes, and a haversack of supplies. She had traveled all over the place; the snowy mountains of the North, the warm tropics of the South, and everything in between. She had left thinking the world would offer opportunity, experience, and kindness. And she had been disappointed to find that the world was not such a great place after all.
That had been six years ago. Now the hedgehog was eighteen years old and, despite years of traveling, she was a homebody at heart. She was still oblivious to the true terrors of the world; she knew nothing of war, hunger, or oppression. But she had seen enough to know that there was no place like home. Still, something deep down prevented her from going back just yet. Maybe the world had something more to offer; maybe there was something better in store.
So Ada kept walking, and today she was walking through the woods. Her paws crunched softly on a few leaves that littered the ground. Summer was just around the corner and the air was still and hot. The hedgehog wore a faded green habit and, over that, a similarly faded blue cloak. There was a sturdy stick in one paw, something just picked up casually. Her haversack was slung across one shoulder, and it looked pityingly vacant.
The hedgehog trundled along, enjoying the day. The path ahead was fuzzy in her warm brown eyes; she had terrible eyesight. But that did not seem to matter. Ada had been thinking of finding somewhere to stop for a while. Traveling certainly took its toll on a beast. But right now she was only thinking of the beautiful day. It would be fall again before she knew it, and she would dearly miss days like this. It was nice just to walk under the cloudless blue sky, knowing that it would still be there if she closed her eyes.

*A faint sound comes over the breeze. Much of it seems to be some kind of singing, accompanied by a stringed instrument.* *Two squirrels are sitting down the path. They are obviously brothers - they have the same gold-brown fur and muscular build. One of them has a stringed instrument in his lap, which he is strumming a fast song. The other is leaning his back against a tree, singing loudly and in a different language.* *After a moment, the singing squirrel stops to take a breath, then calls over the other's music, *I think yer a beat or so off, Reg'!
*Clap, then. *The other squirrel is unimpressed. The first scowls a bit, then begins to clap the beat. After a moment, he gets over it and starts to sing again.*
OOC: Here's ye a chance to come upon them if you like...

*As Ada walks, the sound of music becomes louder. She squints her eyes, seeing only the blur of trees on either side of the path ahead. Nevertheless, she follows the pleasant sound. Soon enough, the source of the music is finally apparent as the creatures finally come into focus. The hedgehog ambles up to the two squirrels, as they seem friendly enough. She smiles shyly.* Hello..

*The squirrel playing the instrument stops abruptly as the hedgehog approaches and grins. The other continues singing, trailing off as he loses the beat. After a moment of looking around, he notices their visitor.* *Ah! Nice day, isn't it? I'm Lonas Eale, and this 'ere is my brother, Regen. *Regen nods once. *Hello.

*The hedgehog nods quickly, smiling sheepishly.* Very nice to meet you, Mr. Lonas, Mr. Regen. It is a very nice day. *She shuffles her feet awkwardly, her eyes darting from one to the other without holding contact for more than a few seconds.* I'm very sorry to interrupt, but I wondered if you could tell me where I am and if there's anywhere close where I could stop to rest.

*Lonas jumps to his feet, still grinning. *Ah, an' you're in luck t'day! In fact, the village o' Terralux is just up th' road. *Regen stands. *...ye c'n stay there if ye like, an' welcome.
*He ducks through the strap on his instrument and slings it onto his back, careful not to hit the strings.*

Terralux? *The hedgehog repeats the name, thinking it odd. She appears to think about it for a moment, then she smiles and shrugs. These two squirrels seem friendly enough, and she is indeed very, very tired.* I think anyplace would be welcome at this point. It seems like I've hardly sat down for days. *She pauses, hopeful for the company.* Are you going there now?

*Regen notices Ada's slightly confused look and says helpfully, *It means "Th' Dirt's Light", or somethin' like that. *Lonas glances over at the other squirrel and nods. *Yes, actually, we were. We live there. We'll show ye th' way, if y' like.

*Ada breathes a quiet sigh of relief. She smiles appreciatively at the squirrels.* Oh, that would be very nice. Thank you so much.

*Twilight was sitting beside the road. Weary from the long walk from the mountain, Salamandrostron, Twilight had decided to rest a while. Hearing the music that had, gently, been cooing her to sleep stop, Twilight lifted her head, looking down the path. Standing, Twilight made her way down, towards where the music was. Seeing two squirrels and a hedgehog coming her way, Twilight sighed in relief.* Finally, M'gel, we'll know where we're goin, eh? *The hare muttered to herself. Raising her voice, she ran down the path.* Excuse me! Excuse me! Could you please tell me where I am? I lost meself a little while ago, I'm afraid.

*Regen looks up at the hare and grins. *Hello, and welcome to Terralux, also known as "Th' Mud's Light." If ye'd like t' visit th' village, please come this way, as our tour is leaving now. *Lonas rolls his eyes. *He's Regen, I'm Lonas, an' this lady is Ada, who we've jus' met. *Whom,* Regen mutters. *

*Ada chuckles, her shyness fading fast in the presence of such friendly creatures. She nods politely to the hare who just ran up.* Pleased to meet you..

*Twilight grinned at the squirrels, who seemed to be brothers. Giving a slight bow to Ada, she nods, memorizing their names.* Pleasure it is to meet you as well, Ada. *Cocking her eyebrow, Twilight glanced back and forth between the two squirrels.* A tour, eh? That could bally well be usefull. Unless, of course, you were just joking.
