Thanks! I'm curious, though -- where do you see the brothers?

Cool!
...I'd make the necks on the vultures a bit longer, make them seem more vulture-like. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback. ;D I love critiques. But yeah, it's mostly impressionistic. And since there's scholarly debate on whether it was vultures or eagles, I made Romulus' 12 vultures into eagles and kept Remus' 6 vultures as is. Moral of the day: Scream "artistic license!" and wave your hands around madly. It'll all turn out fine.

Thanks! I'm curious, though -- where do you see the brothers? Well, at first glance, at the top of the page, it looks like once face with slightly spooky (and well-drawn, btw) eyes... but on my second glance, I could see two faces looking at each other (but there again, when we did the "ink blot" experiment in PRS (philosophy & religious studies) and I saw completely different stuff to everyone else, who saw more or less the same). By the way: never read anything I put in brackets. In brackets, I attempt to provide you with useless, slightly relevant, information.

(Terragon, I think that's what the purpose of brackets are, in my opinion.)
Similarly, I have a request to place, if it doesn't trouble you, Engel. I'd wish to have a reference picture for the numerous other forums I inhabit, because some people want me to draw my characters. The problem being, I can't draw. So, I'd like a picture of my main character for the aforementioned purpose.
Name: Silas
Stance and expression: Pondering, as if looking far off to something that exists outside the limits of the picture, standing upright with feet spread approx. shoulder width apart.
Fur color: A hardly noticeable shade darker than a regular red squirrel's fur would be.
Included items/clothing: A simple brown traveler's outfit, despite the patch and symbol on the left shoulder (Will scan that in as soon as the scanner frees up), wears belt and sword, along with a backpack on his back or next to him on the ground (Shouldn't matter...)
Eye color: Simply put, Blue
Height/other: Tall, agile, cut out for speed more than strength.
Setting (If needed): Path edge, between edge and forest.

I can do that. It would help me if you could describe "traveler's outfit" in a bit more detail, though. Similarly, the color of the sword belt, scabbard, and so on, as well as what style of sword we're talking about. (If you want to get really fancy you can tell me what sort of sword frog you have, though that's not really necessary. )

Thanks for remindin' me about those. Now a traveler's outfit would be a loose-fitting long sleeve shirt/pants combination, allowing freedom of motion. Buttons in this particular one run down to roughly where the floating chest bone that's in between the ribs starts. Silas normally leaves them unbuttoned, considering them more of a nuisance. The sword is dual-edged, a small blood channel running through the center. The hilt, which I assume you only need to draw, is a basic, leather-bound grip, gradually sloping up into a pommel, with a jet-black gem set into the middle of the pommel. The belt looks as if it is made of some reptilian material, Grey in color, nothing special or ornate about it. Simplicity and use is all Silas was concerned about. The scabbard on the belt has a metal end where the point of the blade should be, the only decoration upon it being another symbol near the hilt, set in polished brass against the plain black of the rest of the sheath. The backpack is nothing more than an ordinary backpack with a quiver sewn onto the left side for easy access. other than that, it has one flap, and two buckles upon the flap to clamp it down. Here's the quick scan: i166.photobucket.com/albums/u100/Blobob_2007/scansfile.jpgMy scanner doesn't pick 5-min drawings up very well, though. Edit: Forgot one thing, A tail ring, gold with emeralds set in at a regular pattern, hardly noticeable when worn.

Alright, here's the next picture: Regen, with colors! This is one of the few times in my life that the scanner has made the colors on my picture look better. Huh. Well, not arguing with luck. ;D Next up: Stoakley's banner and Geordie's portrait!

Alright! So I'm finishing up the commissions from the carnival thread, but I thought I'd do a little work-in-progress scan in case anyone was curious how I do my stuff. If this seems self-indulgent, don't blame me. Pip told me it would be a good idea. Without further ado, here's how the magic happens. Pencils, basic inks over over pencils, pencils erased (and fine-point details added in), and full detail inks. Alright. Back to work, haha.

Here's my for-fun project of the moment (a.k.a. a palate refresher between commissioned work). Balder back in the day, standing in front of one of his father's war standards. Sorry Terragon, I know you're a little sick of Viking whatnot. But Balder's as Germano-Norse as the day is long.

Oh, that was a while ago. Writing more Norse-type stuff now.
Like the torque around Balder's neck. I can never make them look like they're not strangling the wearer. Like the warhorn too. Nice detail (total amature trying to sound intelligent and failing).
I'll scan in the picture of Boudicca I had to draw for a display in the Latin classroom (Yeah, we can do Latin and Greek. 'S good.), so you can all laugh at the strangling torque necklace.

Boudica! Awesome. Was the display something about Tacitus' Annals, or a general military conquest thing? (Sorry, I'm such a big nerd when it comes to the ancient world. )

Nope, they just decided they wanted a display board about the Celtes and Boudicca (also, it was going to and did come up in the exam).
