*Terragon follows more sedately, closing the door behind her, and forcing herself to take the steps one-by-one. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she gives a respectful nod to Soilrose.* Is that alright? *She asks meekly. This more calm Terragon glances quickly at Oakrose to confirm her suspicions. Acting exactly like I did... wonder if she's that happy inside? I don't think I was... but Oakrose isn't you, Terri. She's being grown-up about this. You weren't at the time. Admitting this makes the squirrel calmer still and she smiles gently.*

*Terragon laughs faintly.* So it is! The New Year Oak will be up soon. Oh, sorry, *She apologies warmly.* I nearly forgot you were newcomers to Terralux. The New Year Oak is a tradition here, you see. Half-way through December, most of the villagers will head out into the woods and bring an oak tree back with them. Of course, at this time of year, the branches are completely leaf-less, so the oak's decorated with holly and ivy and the like, as well as decorations from the forge. The tree's put up in the Village Hall for everybeast to see; then, on the night of December the thirty-first, the whole settlement meets up for an evening. There's not usually much dancing then; it's a much more calm celebration, but it gives everybeast a chance to meet up and plan to meet up in the New Year.
OOC: Ha. Of course, the New Year didn't begin on the 31st at that time. It began some time in the middle of March, as declared by the Pope. Heh... makes it quite hard to tell how long people lived for, if 'one' isn't sure of the year system.
