*Terragon smiles at Soilrose, but hesitates in the doorway, uncertain.* I was wondering - wasn't sure - whether Oakrose was alright. *She steps inside; it's cold out and the squirrel's fur bristles. One corner of Terragon's mouth twitches in a sympathetic smile and she inclines her head to try to seem sincere and regretful as she feels.*

*Silas, after a moment, responds to Regen, looking down at him and waving casually.* Hey, Regen. You know what happened t' Oakrose? *He couldn't help but ask. He saw Terragon moving towards their house just a few minutes earlier, and almost joined himself. But he reckoned that it was better to be left out of it for now. Beasts that upset usually favored solitude to visitation.*

*Soilrose diverts her eyes from Terragon.* Miz Oakroser isn't in ee best of mooders, but whoo wudd? Oi'm shure she won't moind yoo goin' oop an visitin 'er. 'Long as yoor not Zurr Rippler, yoo'll be okay. *The mole chuckles as she gestures up the stairs and to the second door to the left, Oakrose's bedroom.*

*With a nod of thanks to Soilrose, Terragon makes her way slowly up the narrow staircase and to the door the mole had pointed to. Here, she knocks softly twice and waits a moment before speaking.* Oakrose? Oakrose, it's Terri. *Deep breath, calm. Don't say anything too blunt.* I was wondering if you were alright?

*Oakrose slowly gets up off her bed, and unlocks the door.* Hey Terri. I'm...I'm doing as fine as can be expected. You can come in if you want. *She slides back onto the bed and tries to smooth her rumpled dress and cloak, for she hasn't changed since 'The Ordeal'.*

*Terragon closes the door quietly behind her and sits by the bed, her legs and footpaws curled up beneath her. There's a long moment before the leaderess, who no longer feels particularly like a leaderess, speaks.* Yeah. It's tough, isn't it? *Terragon chooses not to continue with, "But if things weren't working out..."*

*Oakrose nods, then raises her sunken, reddish-eyes to look at Terragon.* Yea. I'd... I'd never expected you'd been through something like this. You can't tell, by the way you act. I... I just can't believe I actually did it.

*Terragon nods, considering this.* At the time, it hurt. And sometimes it still does... and you'll probably hate me for saying this, Oakrose, but the reason nobeast can tell is this: I moved on. I accepted what had happened and that I had lost somebeast very close to me... and I moved on, in the end. *These last few words, despite the firm, calm voice they are uttered in, sound stretched and weary. She doesn't attempt explain, unbidden, what had happened, because this is Oakrose's time to grieve, not hers. Her time has long past and Terragon can now look back with a shrugg upon the memories of three summers ago.*

*Oakrose nods.* Yea, I know I need to move on. My cousin- we're real close- will probably come here. She's real nice, you'll like her. *She leans forward and dangles her feet over the bed.* It was all fine, 'cept that I gave more and got less. And I think that was because of the situation it was forced under. Blackstar was beginning to move around and cause trouble. I'd just seen my only sister die before my eyes, and the bleeding was internal, I couldn't do anything, not long before it all started. Lonas' brother, Jon, was killed. His other brother, Corin III is close to being assasinated. Rippla pisses me off, so I don't like it when he's around. Then my parents came over here, and I had to spend a day or two with them. All this gave us less time to talk, to sit around. I never knew about Jon or Corin's dillema's until I sat down in the Tavern with him earlier tonight.

I know, *Terragon replies gently.* But it wasn't Lonas' fault, or your's. Nobeast's to blame for any of this, Oak'. *She glances thoughtfully out of the window and then back to the other squirrel.* I dunno... maybe you and I aren't so unlucky. Y' said your cousin was coming, which isn't so bad, I'm sure. And if you want to come 'round to Starsett Hollow to talk; anytime, alright?

*The squirrelmaid sighs.* I know, I know, but I just... *Oakrose stops, at a loss for words.* ...yea, sure, anytime.

Y'alright? *Terragon asks again, growing concerned again. She'd become distracted, thinking about other things. It's beginning to grow to be a habit for the squirrel. Happiness makes you light-headed, she warns herself with an inward frown, forcing herself to return to sympathy and worry again.*

*Oakrose nods.* Uh, yea, sure. I'm fine. *She, too had been having other thoughts. What would her parents think? What if-* I think 'Rose probably has dinner ready. Do you want to stay?

Oh... *She hadn't considered this and falters. Ashnel would become stubborn and untalkative upon finding Terragon had gone to Oakrose's cottage or maybe concerned if the red squirrel failed to return to Starsett Hollow for dinner there. She can easily imagine him calling together a search party to scour the whole village... and yet Terragon cannot bear to see Oakrose disappointed for a second time this evening.* Well, if it's alright with Soilrose, why not? *She laughs.*

*Oakrose smiles for the first time in a few hours.* Yes, I'm sure Soilrose would be fine with it. Let's go see if dinner is ready yet. *The squirrel bounds downstairs, a spring in her step. Y'know what? I'm not gonna let this spoil a perfectly good friendship. In fact, I wouldn't really give a damn if he wanted to try a relationship later on, after everything blows over. So HAHA, I'm really not screwed. Mmmm... what smells so good?* Hey 'Rose, is dinner ready yet? Et shure iz, fresh veggible zoop an' dark bread, iz Miz Terragoner staying? Yes, I'll tell her.
