*You sink into an armchair by the fire, a recently dried scroll in your hands. At the top of the first page is Ayeny Windwhiffler in spidery calligraphy. Intrigued to know more, you read the slowly deteriorating handwriting of the young squirrel.*
My father is a healer- his specialty was disease, and he knew the cures to everything from Dryditch fever to most plagues. He used to travel from village to village, helping to stop sickness from spreading. When he was visiting a far-off village way to the north he met my mother, and they were soon married. They set off to travel southwards, and they had been visiting a small village near Redwall when vermin attacked. The villagers, my parents among them, fled to Redwall.
It was there that I was born and grew up, for my parents loved the peaceful life and education I recieved there. At three years/twelve seasons, they had another girl, named Keeva. I loved my sister dearly, but she was far closer to my parents than me, which is probably why she never left them.
My purple tailribbon, which I always wear, was given to me by Skipper of Otters, who I have always admired, even now when he's not as big as he seemed to be when I was a wee dibbun. My last name is from a journey up a perilous rope ladder that moved and swayed with every puff of wind... but that's another tale.
Abbey life was happy. But it wasn't long before my parents got the urge to travel and heal like they had used to in earlier days. I was 9 years/36 seasons old when my family began to travel again. I loved wandering around from place to place, but after learning all my parents could teach me, I wished for more.
It was then, when I was 14 years/56 seasons, that we passed by Terralux/Squirrel Village. My parents traveled on, but I decided to stay and learn from the villagers.
I ended up not only learning but making new friends. The thirst to travel was still in me, but every time I left, I returned after only a few days, unwilling to leave strong friendships behind.
*Here the text ends, save a single line. You carefully examine this line, but the handwriting is very messy and several parts have been crossed out. You manage to only make out one word- 'Ashnel'. Shrugging, you carefully roll up the scroll and place it back on a bookshelf, wondering if there is more to come...*
