The Full Life of Sandegar Arrowhawk Mountainfighter
As A Summary of "The Tale of a Mountainfighter" by Fayne Leafpaw Timberleap
Parents:
Rockpaw Mountainfighter, a Salamandastron hare, was injured badly in a fight against corsairs. His leg was partially crushed and following his recovery from the shock, he decided he would retire and head to Redwall Abbey with his wife, Fayna. They travelled there with the help of some old acquaintaces like the Guosim, and upon arriving, were greeted pleasantly. They settled down there, and eventually Sandegar was born.
Dibbunhood:
Sandegar was born at Redwall, and developed into and energetic, mischievous young leveret who often got into trouble behind his parents' back. In his dibbunhood, he and his younger brother often got into trouble as members of DAB, and was sentenced to many chores, but still he remained defiant. Finally his father decided it was hopeless to reprimand him, and let him run loose. Of course, the abbey Brothers and Sisters did not, and he continued to get told off severely.
Pre-Teenage Years:
Sandegar eventually settled down, dropping his frantic speed of activity. He decided to try Abbey School with the encouragement of his kind mother, and found that he enjoyed learning. He spent many hours reading books, both fictious and non-fictious. His parents were delighted and encouraged him whole-heartedly. His brother, on the other hand, constantly pestered him and they had a great argument which created a large rift between them.
Teenage Years:
In his early teen years, Sandegar wanted to be an Abbey Recorder apprentice, and studied hard for it, but eventually his dream was replaced. After years of reading about the legendary patrols, his new dream was to travel to Salamandastron and be a gallant officer of the Long Patrol. His parents were against it, especially his father, but Sandegar's mind was made up. He filled his days practicing his archery and dirk-fighting with his friends, Gingerspark the Wildcat and Kreythen the Eagle.
Eventually, at the age of 16 years, he decided that he had had enough of the Abbey and ran away with his friends, leaving a note to his parents. He had a rough journey and thus was forced to shelter in villages and forts of dibbunhood friends, such as Chestnut Spiketree and Terragon Scrufftail. He often ended up staying and living in such places for seasons at a time.
When he arrived, having met and left friends, as well as having seperating from Gingerspark and Kreythen, he was greeted with both welcome and disdain. Many of the older officers did not like the fact that he had run away from his parents, but Sandegar quickly made friends with the younger and wilder hares.
Young Adult:
Sandegar worked long as an underling in Salamandastron, very gradually gaining a good reputation as a hard, quiet worker. During that time, he worked very hard to restrain his temper and arrogance. He eventually was promoted to Corporal and worked his way up very slowly.
Adult:
Much of his middle-years were spent as an officer and member of the Long Patrol. His arrogance and pride reached its greatest point during that time. He was a good fighter, and though he was a terrible strategist, a respected member of the Patrol. He often visited Redwall Abbey, his brother and his aging parents, who had forgiven him for his running away. When he was 32, his father passed away, followed by Fayna several years later.
Old Age:
At the age of 48, Sandegar retired, and instead of remaining at Salamandastron, headed back to his birthplace, Redwall Abbey. His brother had married a young hare called Phillipa Timberleap, and they had a young teenage son, Kenneth Sandegarius Timberleap and a pre-teen daughter, Fayne Leafpaw Timberleap. Sandegar spent much of his time with young Kenneth and Fayne, telling him of his time as a dibbun and a Long Patroller. He helped Kenneth convince his parents to let him join the Long Patrol and Fayne became an Abbey Recorder apprentice, writing Sandegar's story down, calling it "The Tale of A Mountainfighter".
Sandegar died of old age at 62. As requested in his will, he was buried in the northeast corner of the abbey, with a stone plaque marking his place. On the plaque was engraved,
"The warrior is home from the Mountain,
His blade and bow is quiet,
Now he rests under star and rain,
Sleeping for eternity."
