*Baraka eaches the treeline and leaps onto the nearest tree trunk. His claws scramble for a hold on the trees smooth bark. The squirrel digs his claws in and makes it to the nearest branch. He reaches out to Stoakly.* Grab my paw! *Baraka yells over the din of the aproaching horde.*

*A world of pain enters Stoakly and Adoni. Though they both manage to escape and are retreating with Terragon, they see the most horrific act they have ever witnessed. Starscape leaps from the little ledge, coming farther down upon the vermin. But as he falls, a sword is lifted in the air. It strikes the shrew, killing him instantly. Stoakly yelps as he witnnesses this and screams. The ferret rushes off and grabs Baraka's paw.* I swear on my life, the vermin here will pay for this. *He growls as he sheathes the cutlass and attempts to get into the tree.*

*Terragon's arm aches as she climbs, and attempts to keep hold of Adoni's paw. She can't breath, and doesn't want to look back to see where Starscape fell.* Keep going! *The squirrel calls to the others.* There's more vermin coming from the other way! *She reaches the high, stronger boughs of the tree, and looks to her right: the walkway through the trees is up ahead and if the vermin cannot climb, then they are all save... and trapped.*

*The vermin follow at top speed, panting. Ria lowers her now-bloody scimitar, glancing back at the body of Starscape as she runs.* ....resilient little beast. Didn't take the hint the first time, I guess.
*The vermin with longbows stop, put arrows to their already-strung bows, and begin firing ahead at Adoni and Baraka, but without aiming carefully - the two archers seem to mainly be trying to get in a lucky hit before their quarry escapes.*

Hurry! *Terragon yells back, all subtle calm leadership cast aside in the moment of urgency.* There's a walkway up ahead leading to the treehouses - run!

*Baraka helps Stoakly up into the tree.* He ducks unnecessarily as an arrow flies overhead. The branches overhead are knit closely together, making a sort of natural flooring. The squirrel starts looking for an opening in the "roof". Baraka snaps off one of the weaker branches, making a small hole. He climbs through the hole and onto the branches. He begins running towards the bridge.*
OOC: Stormsight:
Since Adoni is with Terragon, and Baraka is a ways behind her with Stoakly, does that mean that the vermin are shooting at the different targets especially?
EDIT: Stoakly was already getting up the tree. I was just performing my side of the deal.

OOC: Baraka, if you could rephrase your post so you are not actually pulling Stoakly into the tree; it comes too close to taking an action for his character.

*Silas fires off one arrow, then quickly fires another at the vermin archers. He quickly turns about, attempting to provide some time for the others still struggling through the trees. Keia was a ways ahead of him, already climbing into the nearest tree. Truth be told, Keia was about as frightened as Terragon inwardly. But her traveling has reduced that fear to a mere shaking of the paws. She looks about for somebeast to help into the trees, and ultimately, escape back to the village.*

OOC: Yes, that is what I said, Baraka. An English longbow can shoot a very long way.

OOC: Silas is still on the ground, right? If not - my bad - and I'll edit.
BIC: Silas, move! *Terragon shouts, and were she not still holding onto Adoni's paw, the squirrel might have turned and run back to the other squirrel.* Nobeast else is dying. Come on. *She can see the walkway up ahead - little does the squirrel know, the same path that Melamia and Elm walked as they left Terralux - and though it will lead them all to the safety of the treehouses, there are still Terraluxians in the main settlement and the leaderess begins to wonder why she has not heard a shout, or seen sight of Strongpaw returning since the fight began.*

*Ria stops running and roars at the pursuing vermin to climb. One, a lithe, muscular ferret, scrambles up the tree Terragon is flying, a dagger clenched in his teeth. *

OOC: You're right Terragon, he is on the ground.
BIC: *Silas heeds Terragon's urgent call and fires off one last arrow before retreating with the rest. It was in his nature to fight the vermin, but a higher priority forced him to run. Being in numerous situations where he has faced death, Silas had no fear. He was beyond it. But he knew he was not invincible. Still gripping his bow, he hopped up then nearest tree and followed the retreating Terraluxians.*

*Terragon flinches away from the ferret and nods to Silas. She hurries on, hoping he'll follow. As she reaches the walkway, the squirrel holds back.* Silas, quickly - does anybeast have a knife?! *If he doesn't hurry, we'll have to cut the bridge off before he gets here.* Silas!

*Keia rushed across the bridge as Silas was still making his way to it. Silas moved like the wind through the trees, getting out a dagger from one of his arm-sheaths and offering it to Terragon as he reaches his destination.* I'll want that back. *He says, grim-humoredly.*

*Terragon nods, and with an uneasy smile, snatches the knife and cuts the ropes. The bridge falls, leaving the group on the other side, away from the vermin; and - in a word - trapped.* Sorry, *The leaderess presses the knife back at Silas, and bites her lip as she tells the others what to do.* Keep going 'til you get to the treehouses. The trees around there are taller and harder to climb. Cut the rope ladders. *If there's Terraluxians still down there, then I don't think there's anything we can do for them. Terragon doesn't say it out loud, but feels certain that she doesn't need to. It's all too clear. She hangs back, hoping the the rest will go on ahead. The squirrel raises a paw and shakes her head as though to say, No... I'm fine. But she isn't, and elsewhere in Mossflower, Ashnel gives a fake accent, tries on chainmail, and wants to die.*
