*Oakrose had bundled up in a heavy green shawl and one of Soilrose's habits. The night was dreadfully cold, and snow was beginning to fall gently. The half-moon shone brightly in the sky. She heard a voice after she shut the cottage door softly.* Rose? Can I escort you somewhere? *It was Darron. What do I tell him? He always wants to care and love when he sticks around, but when he wants to leave, it's so sudden and lonely. Oakrose shifted the basket she was carrying to her other arm.* No thank you, Darron. I'll be okay, I'm just going to visit Terri. At this time of night? Well, er, yes. It's something important. A'ight... Bye. *Her farewell was rather harsh, and she walked swiftly to Starsett Hollow. Knocks sounded thrice through the wintry night.*

*Danniar answers the door, half-opening it and beaming up at Oakrose when she recognises the squirrel.* Ev'nin'. 'Ere t' see Terri? *She stands aside, opening the door fully to allow Oakrose in, looking out at the darkening night beyond. Little escapes Danniar's brown eyes and she notices Darron, the squirrel who'd accompanied Oakrose to the Winter Solstice party, wandering away.*

*Aigryus appears from the trees, just barely hitting Darron. He holds his breath, praying that the squirrel wouldn't notice him. Luckily, he didn't. Relieved, Aigryus turns around. He sees Oakrose standing in front of the door held open by Danniar. Knowing that nothing could escape her eyes, he takes a few steps forwards.* Hi there! I'm a friend, I mean no harm! I was just taking an evening's stroll when I came upon here. If you wish, I will go now. *He holds out his paws, to show that he wasn't carrying any weapons.*

*Darron wandered home rather glumly. He never noticed Aigryus as he walked by.*
*Oakrose nodded politely at Danniar, then gestures to the basket.* Yes, and I've brought a bit of something for her. Thank you! *She entered Starsett rather nervously. At the voice from behind her, she looks back but decides to let Danniar handle Aigryus.*

A'right, *Danniar agrees, and then;* One mom'n'. Terri's in her room. *With this, she slips outside, pulling the door a jar open behind her.* Who's'ere, th'n? *She asks, not being able to place the voice or the figure with a name, for the creature standing below Starsett Hollow in the semi-darkness was not one the rat recognised, even under the cover of late evening. Danniar descends quickly, paw over paw down the rope ladder and turns to face the other quizzically.* Y'alrigh'? New t' Terralux, ain' y'?

*Oakrose nods and waits just inside the door. Looking out the window, she can't figure out who the voice belongs to, either.*

*Aigryus shrugs.* Well, I kinda am, probably one of the newest here.

*Oakrose gets bored looking out the window, and feels a strong tug of sadness. So she takes a few steps back into the hall.* Terri? Danniar said you were in your room... it's me, Oakrose. Do you have a couple of minutes to talk?

*Terragon stands, clinging to the edge of the desk for a moment as a familiar wave of nausea sweeps over her. She shakes her head, as though to dislodge water from her ears and, blinking to chase away the dark spots that appear over her eyes, crosses the room in four small strides and opens the door quickly, ignoring the complaints from its squeaking hinges.* Ev'ning, *She smiles.* A couple of minutes, did I hear you say? Stay for supper, Oakrose. *Terragon does some quick thinking. By the time she has worked out what day of the week it is and whether it is her turn to cook supper, several seconds have passed and the squirrel realises Danniar isn't in the main room.* Did Danniar go out? *Terragon asks, then shruggs, remembering why Oakrose is here. To talk.* Doesn't matter, I s'ppose. I think it's my turn to cook supper today anyway. Y''aven'' said y'name ye', *Danniar tells him, before another thought occurs to her.* Go' anywhere t'stay ye', if y'new 'ere? B'c'se I can give y' direct'ns t' the Whisp'rin' Willow Tav'n, if necess'ry.

*Oakrose removes her shawl and the habit slowly, as if thinking.* Well, I'd rather not stay for supper, I don't want to impose or anything. If you'd rather I come back at another time, that's okay. I just thought Darron was upstairs, out of the way, so I decided to come now. Yes, Danniar went outside. There was a newbeast out there, so she went to see who it was.

*Terragon moves forwards as though to go to meet the newcomer, but doubles back, remembering Oakrose. The very action seems so hauntingly like Ashnel. Perhaps Terragon even realises this, for she blinks in surprise.* No, you said you wanted to talk, Oakrose, *She tells Oakrose distractedly. The squirrel forces herself to concentrate.* Please, sit down, *She gestures the table in the main room and steps fully out of the doorway, closing the door of her room behind her.*

*Oakrose smiles and leaves her things in a small pile by the door. She pulls out a chair for herself and for the leaderess. Wow, this is a nice little place here! It all looks very cozy, and she looks comfortable as a hostess.* Thanks, Terri. Y'know, it's really weird, you're - what, two, three years younger than me? But I feel so comfortable around you, it seems so normal to talk to you. Kinda like a sister thing... *The squirrel's voice fades out she stares out the window. Piney. That was the only thing that came to mind. Piney. My only sister, dead. Buried behind MY house, died in MY spare bed. Right in front of MY eyes, and there was nothing I could do. Piney.

Mm, *Terragon agrees, nodding slightly.* It's a shame you haven't really had a chance to meet Robin, *She continues, frowning a little as she thinks.* Yes, sisters, I s'ppose. *The squirrel smiles.* But, anyway - before I begin talking again. *Terragon nods again to Oakrose, waiting for the other squirrel to explain her sudden arrival. Not that I mind. She glances at the door and notices Danniar's left it open a jar. Wonder who the newcomer is. Invite them up here for a drink or something, Danni'.*

*Oakrose nods, a bit unsure of how to start.* I... I don't really know what to do. At all. It's so confusing, for now I've done nothing... but what do I do? *She realizes she's been rambling on, and explains why she's so confused.* Darron... Darron's nice, but he needs to understand we're a thing of the past. We being him and me and this whole love thing. Lonas is... *Here she sighs.* ... is like a feast where you get there late, and there's not enough left. Not enough to satisfy what you want. I know that probably sounded crazy, but it was the only thing that came to mind to explain it.

*Terragon sits down and nods slowly.* I know what you mean. I've... I know what you mean. And you have to tell him; Darron, I mean. You can't assume he'll work it out by himself, because it just won't happen, Oakrose. *She gives a faint smile.* Tell him this; that if he respects you, he won't try to change your mind, because... you know what you want and it's not him. *A rehearsed speech, Terragon? You never said it. You left him to guess. Still, not much you can do now. It's over and that's what you wanted. She smiles again.*
