*Silas stands by and hears the news with a thoughtful expression, mixed witha tinge of worry as he hears the whole speech, completed by Lonas. He himself had only heard bits and pieces of this Blackstar. But wither way, the news was troubling. he couldn't stand to see Terralux, his improvised home, to be in the grip of any tyrant, much less a vastly powerful one, if his assumptions were correct about Blackstar. Before Any questions could be asked, Silas asks one of his own, perhaps the one nobeast could answer at the moment.* So what're we going to do now? Just stand by and let 'im take over?

*Terragon sighs through her teeth, her expression incredulous. She takes a long look out of the window, making the simple act seem as though it is the last time she will do so. Terragon is still gazing out at the autumn beyond the open window when she speaks.* Could you call Ashnel in, Regen. I think he might want to hear this. *With a flicker of irritability, Terragon wonders for the third time that day where Robin is, but casts the thought aside again for a moment longer.*
OOC: Sorry... this must be quite hard to respond to. I could modify if needed.

*Regen nods and sticks his head out the door.* Hey, Ashnel...Terri wants t' see you. *Lonas stands by the wall, fidgeting slightly. He doesn't know a whole bunch about Blackstar...mentions from Regen, some flak from the defeated Rippla about the warlord's officers and soldiers. Regen worked for the warlord about eight years and knows plenty about him, though.* *Unfortunately, that may mean that Regen has some loyalties to the wildcat warlord still. Lonas figures he'll have to talk to the younger squirrel about it.*

*Ashnel, growing tired of loitering by the door, had returned to the window seat, but stands up almost instantly as his name is called and hurries to join Terragon and the others.* Did you hear that? *Terragon asks, looking up from her seat and over the shoulders of the Eale brothers and Silas.* I heard the start of what Silas said, but... *He shruggs and the red squirrel repeats Regen's explaination quickly.* In short, Lord Blackstar intends to expand his territory. If, *(And the "if" is spoken with defiance and venom)* He succeeds, then Terralux will no longer be on the border of Blackstar's land. We won't be guarding a border for him, and he'll want to demand something else from us instead: namely, taxes and soldiers. *Ashnel's response is almost an echo of Silas', but his voice is louder and carries more surprise.* And? Do you think I'm - we're - going to stand by and let your Lord Blackstar take and march over us? *It takes a long pause after this bravado for him to speak at a normal volume and with what he should say.* Terragon, call the council together. Demand a meeting with Tervin if you can. *Terragon breathes an internal sigh of relief as Ashnel's tone grows more rational. Outwardly, her face is calm, though she tries not to bite her lip.* That's what we'll do, then, unless there's any objections? * Hell's Teeth, though... Blackstar did manage to chose a season to invade when half the captains are off travelling!* OOC: I think only Robin's really active, so... unless you guys particularly want to RP the council, Terri and Ashnel's idea needs to be shouted down.

OOC: Yep, no problem.
BIC:
*Regen pauses for a moment, then shrugs.* Well, I don't see what good it'll do ye. Lord Blackstar's gonna go out and do whatever it is he wants, meeting or no meeting. *Lonas has clearly been thinking. After a moment, he grins and claps his paws sharply together.* I have it! Reg' c'n declare Terralux part of the Arkain Squirrel Kingdom, under Corin's jurisdiction. Then if Blackstar attacks us, he attacks the Arkains too, an' the Arkains are a match for him...which Terralux most def'nitely isn't. *There is a pause for a moment, and Regen voices the hole in this plan.* Th' Arkains are two weeks sail 'cross open ocean, with a fair wind and no difficulties. Aye. *Lonas looks slightly crestfallen, then shrugs.* Or, I s'ppose, we could declare ourselves a sep'rate country and go t' th' Arkains for military help. Or, I dunno, Salamandastron.

*Silas sighs outwardly, listening to the conversation. And to think he just came in for small talk! However, the squirrel's experience in the Great war leads him to believe that they could venture off for Salamandastron in hopes of assistance. It was their best bet. Standing quietly until now, he inquires,* Now how big is Blackstar's army, exactly? *He asks with caution, fearing he would only dishearten the beasts around him.*

Hold on, *Ashnel raises a paw to silence Silas. Terragon frowns at it, but lets Ashnel continue.* Lonas is right. The Arkains may be two weeks away, *He takes a step further into the room, looking from Terragon to Regen.* But Blackstar isn't an idiot, is he? Regen, if your brother makes it clear that he'll frankly slaughter anybeast who comes near Terralux, then Blackstar will back-down... right? *Ashnel's confidence dwindles as he speaks and he sighs, giving Silas an apologetic look.* Sorry, Silas... you were saying? He was asking was big Tervin Blackstar's army is. Reg'?

Well, *Silas interjects,* It doesn't really need t'be answered, though you might as well hope for the best an' prepare for the worst. Even if Blackstar isn't a fool... *The squirrel looks about at the faces of the beasts surrounding him. Partnering up with the Arkains would do them good, but would it actually work? There was still that small risk. A risk Silas didn't feel comfortable with, for some reason. At least, that's what his gut-instincts were telling him.*

Big, *Regen replies when Ashnel's done talking.* Close on five hundred foot and lance soldiers in duty, with twenty or so heavily armored knights...badgers and the like, in that new plate armor. He might have raven cavalry, I dunno...he was planning on it, I heard from higher-up before I left, but whether he finished or not I dunno. *Lonas makes a face at this news, although he already knew about it, but goes on with his train of thought.* Anyway...th' main problem with allying with th' Arkains is our dear brother, Corin. *Regen snorts loudly. Lonas glares at him and keeps talking.* ..Corin, you may 'ave noticed, isn't that much better than a vermin warlord. He won't try t' conquer us, but if we're part o' his kingdom, we're still gonna end up paying taxes. *He shrugs, then adds helpfully,* That's why I said we oughta declare ourselves a sep'rate country.
OOC: Aahh...the Spanish. Gotta love 'em. Even if the Eales aren't really Spanish Spanish. Blackstar, if anyone wondered, is Norman. So if we wanted to really be historical, he oughta flatten everything in sight. Including Burde.

OOC: Legend. ;D
BIC: *Terragon allows the doubt to show upon her face before she answers.* And you're certain there's no way you can go and... *She gives an exasperated sigh.* Well, you're an ambassador, Re', isn't there any way around this? Because I swear declaring ourselves seperate from Mossflower won't do anybeast any good in the long-term. Ravens, though... Salamandastron, *Ashnel says, seemingly to nobeast. Terragon looks the other up and down, an eyebrow raised again.* Yes? And? Jupiter will help. *He sounds too certain and nearly childish and it pains Terragon to see how sure he is of the badger.* We can't hide behind Salamandastron forever, Ash', *She tells him gently.* Blackstar wants to conquer them too. *The squirrel needs time to think, away from the others, especially away from Ashnel. But -* How much time d'you think we have, Regen?

*Regen shrugs.* A couple months, at least. Blackstar's not ready t' go yet, he's still gotta settle things at home so nobeast tries t' take over while he's at war. Plus getting all his soldiers t'gether, extra rations...meanin' extra taxes...getting recruits trained up. We've got some time, although not a whole lot in th' grand nature o' things... *he fades out for a second, clearly adding up things Blackstar has to to do be ready for a full-scale invasion.* *Lonas clears his throat, having decided to tell the flat truth.* Well, if we're part o' Mossflower technically, we c'n team up with...uh..Redwall Abbey and whatever else is out here t' set up an army. We're not gonna be able t' save the world by ourselves, no matter how much we want to. Allying with th' Arkains we might be able to pull of. It'll involve signed documents an' various terms, though, if we don't wanna be put int' this situation again. Witnesses...the whole tree.

*Silas sighs a sigh of weary resolve. Guess this is what I get for having an indefinite leave from duty... He thinks grim-humoredly. Sure, papers were all good if they prevented Blackstar from crashing down on their heads. The squirrel crosses his arms, continuing to listen to the conversation, the one that would decide the future of the whole region. Three beasts - For he felt like a bystander in all this - controlled the fate of a settlement, and possibly the actions of two kingdoms. Standing back, he listens in, thinking as he usually did.*

*Terragon nods quickly.* Alligances, *She agrees.* We'll send out messengers. Ashnel, Salamandastron. Take somebeast else with you. Redwall; I'll - no. *Terragon pauses. She cannot go dashing off to Redwall she realises disappointedly.* We'll send some others out to Redwall and maybe to the Pine Groves. *Another thoughtful pause, accompanying by a puzzled look.* Regen, is it worth you going to Fort Copperlin? Or would you only get pulled back into the army?
OOC: Cross-Site RP, anyone?

OOC: Terri, I've been keeping up with this, and Soilrose has been 'planning' to go back to Redwall. D'you want her to go? And Clearstream is from Otter's Fort, and they're pretty active, and it's fighting-based. D'you want her to go there?

OOC: Maybe, maybe not. I dunno...my main thought at the time was just a big rp. I guess we could do several sites...
BIC:
*Regen shakes his head.* Not without alot of warning t' Blacktar...else it could be seen as agression, now that I'm s'possed to support th' Arkain's best interests in Mossflower. I prob'ly shouldn't just up and go. I guess I'll start writing a letter t' Corin under Reg's name, *Lonas says helpfully.*
