*Baraka lifts up another few boards, tossing them to the side as they come up.* Alright, I'm coming down there! *He tosses the metal bar down onto the accumulated pile of wood, wincing as it clangs loudly. The squirrel grabs a lantern and lights it with one of the candles mounted on the wall. He carefully maneuvers himself into the now fairly large hole and drops in. The lantern flickers and nearly goes out, but miraculously stays lit.
Phew!
He looks around. To his left is a huge pile of masonry blocking the tunnel completely; to his right, a tunnel stretches off into the blackness. By Oakrose, there is, indeed, a skeleton. He walks over to it and examines it.* It's a squirrel skeleton, probably about 25-30 seasons, judging from the size. And I'll bet it had something to do with that blockage. *The squirrel begins marching down the tunnel, the lantern flickering threateningly.*

*Oakrose stirs.* Huh.... oh, hey Baraka. *Looking around at everything, she stares in awe.* What is all this? *She pauses to look at the skeleton. A big, hairy spider crawls over top of the skull.* Ew. I'll, er, stay down here to explore, but that's it. No longer than needed.

*Lonas takes a candle from Regen and slides down a few minutes later after Baraka. He barely avoids landing on the bones - an old clay object crunches under his boots as he slides through. The golden squirrel looks around thoughtfully, and picks his way through the old stuff to Oakrose.* You alright? *He holds out a paw, clearly concerned, but his eye is caught by a glimmer of silver in the candlelight.*

*Oakrose grins, and gratefully takes Lonas' paw.* Yea, I'm fine, thanks. Just a little bruised, but it's alright. Uh, I'll stay down here a little bit longer, to explore with you and Baraka. *She leans against his shoulder and rubs her cheek against his.*

*Lonas hugs Oakrose against him, but is now quite interested in the silver.* 'Scuse me. *He steps over to the glittering object and picks it up. It's a shiny silver insignia, shaped vaguely like a hammer. The golden squirrel immediately drops it like it's burning hot.* Thor's Hammer....Rippla's got one. Norse demons. *He fishes through a small pile of gold and silver amulets, going through a list as he does.* Luck, protection, Freyr, fire, and earth. They're runes...oh, what's this? *At the bottom of the pile is a bone amulet, carved with a strange beast. Lonas doesn't pick it up.* Pictish. Hey, Baraka, y' may wanna look at this stuff.

*Oakrose, too, goes to look at the pile of silver.* Wow. I've.... I've heard about this stuff, but I've never seen it. OOC: I really hate Norse Mythology, but had to study it in Mythology. Freyr....wasn't she the protector of married women? Thor... god of thunder. I'm sure of that.

*Baraka heads back over to the others and puts the lantern by the silver items. He picks the hammer pendant up, looks at it and drops it back with the others.* Thor's hammer! Norse gods! I can't believe old Dragaza managed to procure one of these. *He starts digging through the stuff.* Freya... goddess of love and fruitfulness... Loki... trickster god... Odin... the father god, right? Ooh! A Pictish amulet. *Baraka takes it out of Lonas' paw.* They tattooed themselves all over. *He explains excitedly.* Where did he get this stuff? He must have found a wreck.*

*Oakrose nods, for it is all coming back to her. Yes, Mumma always fussed at Father for telling me the old tales and beliefs, but I enjoyed hearing them.* Excuse me, but who's Dragaza? And didn't you say Regen had one? They musn't be that rare, then.
OOC: Loki was my favorite. ;D

OOC: I was always a fan of Morrigan...
BIC:
*Lonas shakes his head, looking askance at the pile of amulets.* No, Rippla. Reg' wouldn't touch one o' those if you threatened to kill 'im. *The squirrel glances at the bone beast, clearly agreeing with his brother privately.* But anyway, th' Hammer isn't rare...Rippla's got one. What's unusual about that one is that it's silver...Rippla's is iron, an' others I've seen have been similarly inexpensive. Also, I suppose, that Dragaza's got this stuff in here is interestin'..th' pirate wasn't a great Christian, but he wasn't Norse either.

*Oakrose nods.* Hm. Well, maybe he...just... found it. They do make really rare stuff like this, Father used to tell Pinebud and I stories like this all the time. Mumma fussed at him, but he said his Gran'pap woulda wanted us to know about all of the Norse Gods. Father is part Norse, his Gran'pap was a true Norse, though, and always gave Mumma little statues of Freyr for her birthday. That made her really mad! *The squirrel chuckles. She obviously likes telling about her family.* He gave Piney one too, but.... Well, that's besides the point. He had one, and he was sending to Father on a ship, but it capsized. Maybe..... *Oakrose leans over and picks the hammer up. Looking on the bottom of it. She looks up, tears in her eyes and a grim smile on her face, then shows them the little J carved on the bottom.* It's his initial. J for Jilden. Jilden Kilderboom. Then my Grandmum married a Royalbrush, and we've been ever since.

*Baraka shifts uncomfortably.* I believe we have exhausted this topic. *He says tactlessly.* Perhaps we should continue. *The squirrel starts back down the hall, pick the lantern back up as he goes.* I coulda sworn I saw a light down there.

Capsized, *Lonas mutters. He looks at the amulets for another minute, then moves on to where the skeleton lies.* *It appears to have been buried in a usual manner, but with a sword in paws. Lonas seems a bit confused by this.* 'Y sure this is a pirate? He's buried Norse...even has a sword.
