*Ayeny takes Ashnel's paw but doesn't really lean her weight on it, preferring to feel the refreshing shock of the cool water.* Where to? *she asks Ashnel quietly as they are both on the same level again.*

OOC:AAAAAAH!!! WHAT HAS I MISSED? I'VE BEEN LEFT OUT BY ACIIDENT,ME IDIOT!!! *slaps self in face* AAAH!!! *wanders over to the group* hello,oh dear,it seems I've missed quite a lot. sorry I wasnt here to do anything. *Ashnel pauses, and watches Terragon wade off through the shallows.* She's going to Scruffear's house, I suppose. I've haven't been around this part of the shore in a while... I don't really know it. *The squirrel pauses a little too solemnly after adding.* I didn't really know Scruffear either. *Terragon reaches the pale sand and hurries up the rise of the beach, paws slipping as she runs. The red knows the place better than the dark squirrel and head without hesitation towards a cairn above the tideline littered with stacks driftwood, rope and other, so-called "useful", debris.* *The red squirrel slips under a ledge formed by the rock and bows her head - perhaps for respect for the dead occupant of the cairn, perhaps because of her height, and the low stone roof - and passes beneath a curtain which seperates the burrow beyond from the weather and anything else outside.* *The burrow itself is as dark as the tunnel, but Terragon reaches out, knowing she'll find a torch and flint but an arms-length away. A moment later, a flame illuminates the one-roomed house; and all at once, the squirrel recalls her first visit to the place... Is this where you live? Most o' the time. Did you build it? Nah... I reckon it musta been a smugglin' hideout once. It's still a smuggling hideout, isn't it, Scruffear? Of course not, Terri! I told you... I honest now. You tell that to yor brother. I'm an honest merchant o' boats and fine sea-farin' vessels. Honest? At the prices you charge...* *Terragon smiles slightly, and blinks. Then, remembering what she came for, she heads over to a lock chest in the corner of the room. If I don't make it through all this, Terri - an 'eaven knows how I will, with you an' Mister Alashia being how you are. Yor cousin's enough to scare the daylights outta hellhounds - Anyhow, if'n I don't make it through this, you take the knife an' the locket and ev'rything's in the chest in my house. Don't let the crabs bite yer...* *Terragon gasps.* The crabs!

*Ayeny nods a little solemnly.* Neither did I, *she says, though this is evident, and, feeling like she ought to say something, she adds,* Enough to know he was undoubtedly a goodbeast, though. *Quietly, she decides to let Terragon continue on by herself, at least for a little while.*

*Ashnel stiffens visibly as he hears a shout from the beach. With a swift glance at Ayeny, the black-furred squirrel bounds through the pale water towards the sand.* *A dozen land crabs surround Terragon inside Scruffear's house. These are not the miniature ant-like creatures that the squirrel found on the day she met Birchy Rolywave. These are massive, spider-like crustaceans which click as they walk on the patches stone floor visible beneath rugs and papers.*
OOC: Some distant relation about five or six generations back was supposedly eaten by land crabs when he fell off his horse. I think said distant relations of about five or six generations back was James Skinner's son (ever heard of Skinner's Horse, in Gambi-?).

What- Terri? *Ayeny asks, or maybe she doesn't, sprinting to catch up with Ashnel and moving a little faster, her lighter frame keeping her from sinking as much. Almost ironic timing, there.*
OOC: Um... honestly, no. That's a very creepy thought, though.

OOC: Nope me neither, but it sounds scary. I would hate it. The one thing I'm really terrified of anymore is crabs. Uhhhhhh. *shudder*.
BIC: *Robin and Elm are on his boat. Robin is steering at the elm grinning to herself with the wind blowing in her face. She is thinking to herself about Elm and blushes nearly biting her lip open. She hopes that she isn't being really stupid about it all, but she probably it.*
*Elm is staring over the side with his telescope scanning the ocean to see if he can spot where the others got to. He can't see them anywhere. Frowning he glances over to Robin hoping she doesn't realise that they can't see the others.*
*Thrukka is up in the crwosnest. For a shrew she has a pretty good head for heights. Right now alittle island has caught her interest. She seems to be able to make out two squirrels running towards a small house type thing.* What the... *She merely whispers to herself.*

OOC: Sorry, Robin! Oh, and, the others are near Salamandastron. "Terri goes to hut, leaves Ash and 'Yen behind. Is automatically attacked by killer crabs." Slightly corney, huh?
BIC: *Ashnel hurries into Scruffear's hut, nearly bashing his head on the low rock-ledge. He stumbles, ripping the curtain that seperates the place from the outside world, and takes in the scene before him...* *Terragon is standing on a wooden chest, a dozen crabs the size of dinner plates surrounding her, their pincers clicking maliciously. The red squirrel looks up, and, seeing Ashnel, gives a strangled cry and looks down at her feet again, ashamed, or perhaps afraid of her paws being pincered (?) by the crabs. Crabs... I don't mind the small crabs, like the one I found when Ash' found Birchy... but land crabs... and Ashnel knows I'm scared of them now...* Terragon. *She looks up at the sound of the taller squirrel's voice.* Terragon? I'm... I'm going to light a torch - alright? - and I'm going to chase the crabs away, because they don't like fire - Jupiter told me. But you're going to have to tell me where to find flint and tinder, and make sure the crabs don't follow me... Terragon? *The red squirrel doesn't seem to be listening, and is watching the largest of the crustasteons (sp?) attempt to climb onto the chest.*

Isn't there a fireplace? *asks Ayeny, a little more tartly than she'd perhaps meant to, shaken.* Look, Terri- Terragon, just stay calm... *She looks about the room for a second, hoping to see something lying around... a light, a light in the burrow, she thinks, and looks for the torch-ring where Terragon must have first lit the room from.*

*Thrukka leaps down from the crowsnest, well not really leaps that would be stupid but she scuttles down the rigging very fast, and runs over to where Robin and Elm are. She is panting quite hard as she is a shrew and not used to climbing.* Robin...the others...I think.....near huge mountain...running. *Finally she gives up to oxygen and tries to get her breath back.*
*Robin squints down at her confused for just a split second before it sinks in. She grabs the telescope ofo Thrukka and quickly scans the shore. Soon she spots the hut and what looks like two figures outside. At first she doesn't see anything sinister about it though something is making her spine tingle.* Right...well Elm shall we head over there? *She smiles slightly worridly and turns back to the telescope.*
*Thrukka fumes inside that Robin asked Elm what to do. Although she has great respect for Robin maybe because she is a warrior, she has little of that sentiment for Elm. Quickly getting out of his way she snatches the others telescope and joins Robin, as he orders the crew to move towards the others position.*

*Ashnel sees Ayeny and realises she's had more success in finding flint and tinder than he has. He tries to find something to do, panicking a little inwardly. I didn't know Terri was scared of crabs!* *Some of the land crabs are starting to edge closer to Ashnel and Ayeny, so Ash attempts to push them away with the flat of his sword.*

*The boat begins to turn and heads towards the beach where the figures have been spotted. The wind is against them however so it is hard going, and Elm is at the wheel leaving Robin and Thrukka as look outs. After what seems an arduous (sp) few minutes the ship slams into the shore. Robin is automatically first down and onto the shore, then comes Thrukka and Elm together. The rest of the crew stay with the slaves who decided to come back trying to calm them down. They have got very distressed that the ship stopped. Robin runs over to where Ashnel and Ayeny are.* What is going on? *She manages to pant out.*

OOC: Robin, are you at the boat or did you manage to find Scruffear's place?
BIC: *Ayeny shoves an unlit torch into Ashnel's hand, heedless of whether he manages to hold his sword as well or not. She then fumbles with the flint until it -finally!- makes a spark, jumping away for a second when she feels something cold and hard touching her paw. The torch remains cold for a second before it sets alight, and it nearly singes Ayeny's fur as she pulls her head back.*

OOC: We're supposed to have found you.
BIC: *Robin stares at the lit torch and wishes she knew more about what was going on. She tries asking once again.* What is going on here? *She wishes she knew.*

*Ayeny notices Robin then, and though she opens her mouth to explain something, she has no idea what to say.* Crabs, *she then says acutely, gesturing vaguely at the many creatures who are far too close for comfort.* Ashnel, how're you doing...? *she asks, slightly apprehensive.*

OOC: Advancing quest.
BIC: *Terragon breathes a sigh of relief, and casts her eyes around the room, to check that there are no more crabs hiding somewhere in the dimly-lit house. Finally, the red squirrel sits down on the wooden chest.* This is it, I suppose. *Terragon takes the knife from her pocket and Scruffear's locket from her paw, where she's been holding it tight for almost every part of the journey from Meratoa that she can. Ashnel nods respectfully, perhaps to Terragon, or perhaps to the dead weasel, and turns to go. The squirrel wanders up the passageway and into the sunlight which seems too bright and the fresh air that seems too normal to be real.*
