OOC: All roleplay posts must be at least two lines of text, Strongpaw. And Lyman, you did it again I know it can take some getting used to, but please try your hardest.

OOC: Quite all right, you just keep slipping into the past tense. It takes some getting used to, but it is imperative for all posts to be in the present tense because you are describing your character's actions at the moment.
Also, Baraka and Strongpaw, please make sure all of your posts have at least two lines of text. How much can your character accomplish in a single line of text?
Otherwise, this thread seems to be moving along fine. ;D

OOC: Naw? Really? BIC: *Baraka gets back up*Oh shoot!*removes his satchel and takes out a (very) small crossbow and some darts* There you are!*also takes out a small pouch full of a black powder.*I found this during my *ahem* projects.* OOC: In case you don't know already, Baraka is an alchemist. BIC: *Baraka dips one of the darts into the pouch* This is a knockout powder, I believe.* places the dart on his crossbow.* at that moment a stoat with a knife breaks through the trees up ahead.*Baraka releases the dart and it hits the fiend in the arm. It immediately falls over unconscious. Baraka looks around.*That was only a scout. There may be more. A lot more.* OOC: We may be dealing with a full size army here! ;D

OOC: Baraka, Tinsy is staff on this site and deserves your respect; your remarks come across as disrespectful and smart-aleckish. If you have an issue with somebody's call on a roleplaying rule, talk to me.
Also, you cannot control the actions of the stoat. You can fire at the stoat, imply that he will be keeling over in a second if it hits, but you cannot state that you hit him and he falls over as a result. That is an autohit and comes very close to godmoding, both of which are not acceptable on this site.
Also, I'm not sure if alchemist is the term you want to use; alchemy implies magic forces at work, which don't exist in the Redwall books except as superstition. I would use the phrase chemist, if I were you; it implies a more scientific background and has the same or similar effects. Other than that, I don't see any problem with your use of powders, poisons, etc. I would reccomend, however, that you not have an endless supply and that you set your limit early on; otherwise, it can easily slip into godmoding.
I will be watching to see how this advances guys; show me some good roleplaying skills! ;D

Still OOC: 1. sorry about the smarts
2. if the stoat is not played by anyone, how will we know what happens to it?
3. Alchemy has absolutely nothing in relation to magic. It is merely chemistry.

OOC:
Baraka means an alchemist in the medieval sense, which is a dubious scientist-cum-stage-magician who tries, through various methods, to turn lead into gold. It's quite historical, and even matches up with our timeline. He can put a note in his sig about this, I suppose. *ahem* He's also my brother...so if he smartmouths me, I can step on his foot IRL. Thanks for tellin' him off anyway, he needs it. ;D The stoat, like the one in Strongpaw's post on another thread, seems to be sort of an NPC - Baraka brought it in, and therefore can kill it off. Yes?

*Strongpaw nods* Maybe there are more vermin after him, we must get going! *He takes his bow in one paw* Be alert, they can come at any moment! *He begins singing a song to liven up the mood* From the mountains i do come and throughout the woods i roam i would like a great big cake and i would eat it near the lake *Strongpaw only knew this part of the song so he repeated it a few times*

Yes? OOC: I see what you mean, but unfortunately it ties too much into mysticism; the entire history of alchemy is nonscientific in that it relies on unearthly explanations and is often accompanied by the concept of transmutation, or changing an item from one form to another, altering it's elemental composition. It was this concept that they believed applied for turning lead to gold. For a vermin character, it would be more understandable because of the superstition they view everything with; however, I feel it is better to avoid the other connotations of the word entirely. Secondly, I'll keep in mind that he's a sibling; I know I'm not always the most respectful person to my older brother, but please try to keep the banter to a minimum, as I do not want a bad example set to other new players. And thirdly, it's mainly a prevention against godmoding. Even though he did integrate the npc himself, he still cannot explicity state anything to the effect that his character kills it; it can too easily lead to somebody introducing an entire army and killing them all singlepawed. By all means specify what you are aiming for, what effect you are hoping to achieve, and then ignore the npc, which would give a clear impression that the vermin has been eliminated from the battle, but please do not state any direct hits. I know it may seem a bit silly, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that.
